"Three missing and four dead," Dany reported to his cabin mates the next day. "Something has to be done about this."
Icy frowned.
"I thought the manager would close down the cabins because of the murders," she said.
"Yeah, but he said he needs to find the murderer before he can let us out of here," Timeless replied.
Icy raised her eyebrows at him.
"I asked him," Timeless added hastily before pacing around the room.
Lucas, who was rather chill, butted into the conversation.
"Well, guys," he started. "We'll just keep to ourselves and we'll be fine."
The others murmured. Dany stood up.
"See you guys later," he said, making his way to the door.
"Where are you going?" Icy asked, suspicious.
"To see if I can find some clues," Dany replied before walking out of the cabin.
Aristein wasn't worried about being killed. As long as he was with his friends, he was alright. He and his friends decided to explore the woods that day.
"Hey, we might find Matrix or Limber or Kathy while we're out there." Pufflin snickered, her laugh followed by a chorus of others.
Aristein just smiled to himself. Pufflin's dark humour was sometimes amusing. Making their way deeper into the woods, Wolfy had an idea. He slapped Aristein on the shoulder.
"You're it!" he giggled and sprinted off.
Before Aristein could react, he found himself alone in the woods.
"Guys!" he called after them, but they were long gone.
Aristein started searching for his friends. This wasn't funny anymore. The murderer could get him, now that he's vulnerable. After a while, he came across a rocky terrain. Aristein leaned on a boulder, catching his breath. His breath caught when he saw a red smear on one boulder. Curious and frightened, his eyes followed the smear until they landed on a foot. Aristein's heart pumped louder as he scrambled to his feet and ran to the body. It was Matrix, her chest and neck mauled open and one foot missing. Aristein swore to himself and slowly backed away. Until he bumped into something. He turned around and froze. One of the tourists had an axe in one hand.
"And where do you think you're going?" the tourist smiled, a malicious glint in their eye.
The last thing that Aristein did was scream.
Rycelle heard Aristein's scream from nearby. She had decided to take a walk by herself, which was probably not the best idea when there's a murderer running around stabbing people. Frightened, she ran in the opposite direction where the scream came until she came to a stop near the edge of the campsite. Sighing with relief, she slowly walked up, thinking she was safe. Someone behind her grabbed her by the waist and covered her mouth. Rycelle tried to break free of the captor's arms, but her attempts were feeble. The captor threw her against a tree and she was knocked out. The murderer quickly fashioned a rope into a noose and hung Rycelle on a tree branch. She didn't stir again.
Timeless was looking for Dany. He heard someone scream earlier, and he was worried that Dany had been too curious and ran into the murderer. Timeless walked along the edge of the forest, calling out Dany's name. He came to a halt when he saw a figure next to a tree. Running to the figure, he realised that it was Rycelle, dangling on a tree branch tied to a rope, her head loped sideways. Timeless turned away to report back to the manager when he saw a carving on the tree. He shivered as he read the words "All of you will die, one by one". A signature was carved at the bottom of the message. Timeless peered at it, trying to read the carving.
"What is that?" he murmured to himself, squinting. "It looks like a backward S -- oh wait it's a Z."
Timeless looked around.
"I'll have to find Dany and tell him," he said to himself before running off, leaving Rycelle dangling halfway off the ground.
