This is based on my experience, as a high schooler struggling rn, my tip is that do not procrastinate too much, because if you do, there will just be more assigned work tomorrow and it just piles up. For me, I always try to do all the work the same day because my teachers are unpredictable when it comes to giving work.

My other tip is that when you dont know the answer in class, just ask help from your teacher, dont be ashamed to ask for help. There were lots of times were I just pretended to act like I understand but actually didnt. Ik theres times when the whole class is silent and you feel like you'll disturb their vibe atmosphere if you ask for help, but in reality, they're just thinking about something else. Let go of your pride and ask for help! I also have trouble asking for help because im shy and I sometimes care too much about what others think, but I also try my best! At the end its about you passing the class. If youre too shy to ask the teacher for help, ask the smart people.

This last tip I have is something Ive learned on my own and havent seen others talk about this, its to not let your classmates failures massage your ego, what I mean is like when your failing and most of your classmates are failing as well, you think its an ok thing, but its not. You'll be thinking like:
"Oh most of us are failing! Im not the only one thats failing so its not that bad!" or "No one is submitting the assignment, ig ill be fine if i do the same" I had this mindset during 1st quarter for US History class and Geometry class, because of that I failed US History with an 40 grade average, and barely passed Geometry with a 68. Do your work and submit it, dont let others people words influence you to procrastinate.

I hope these tips helped you, if it doesnt seem helpful, dont use it. This is just based on my experience. Its 2:15am, im so tired and im using all of my willpower to finish this thread, ima sleep.

Now that youve seen my tips, comment down your tips for school or work so people viewing can use it to deal with school and work more easier :)

Great tips!
You make a great point with the 3rd one. I got a new pre-algebra teacher, and the entire school hates them. I have a pretty bad grade, but I don’t do anything about it bc everyone else has a bad grade. But you’re right. I should do something.

I've already graduated from high school and my advice is to rest. you don't want to burn out or else that will affect you physically, mentally and emotionally.

A good study method is, The Pomodoro Technique, where it involves 25 minutes of studying then 5 minutes break - do this in three rotations. This is a very effective method for those who struggles to focus or procrastinate.

When you have an exam the next day, try to not cram your last minute revision and instead get a good night sleep. You don't want to be half dead during that exam.

If you struggle to retain content from your syllabus, try to do practice papers and have your notes or textbook next to you and try to attempt those questions. This will reinforce the information rather than just reading through notes.

Lastly, grades do not define who you are. There are always different pathways to reach your goals. Good luck!!

don’t forget to have fun, don’t be closed off or quiet, get out there and socialize, it makes school so much more bearable honestly for me school be funny asl it’s all jokes and good talks and moments with plenty people.

join clubs. Go to the games with your friends (basketball, volleyball, etc.)

high school is much more than academics

-highlight main info on study guides, and stuff you're struggling to remember
-have a set time to do hw everyday

-study but dont get burnt out
-color code your work, red for imp. stuff

I dunno but this might help you the way it helped me for example you're trying to remember some words for your test what i do is read it 6 times, say it 6 times and write it 2 times... It helped me remember the words.

Pointer
-Do this before you go to school like early in the morning and quiet. In that way your brain can focus more
-Eat Dark Chocolate it'll help for memorizing.
-If there is time (like it's your break or if it is ok to read stuff) do re-read the things you jot down to refreshen your memory.

Good luck studying

Good luck

1. Have a study/homework routine and be sure to stick to it. Failed this so many times but still trying to get at it despite my procrastination issues. Don’t be like me and lose an entire night’s rest 2 days in a row just for homework- barely survived staying awake in class. Like Bliss said, the Pomodoro Technique is a good one.

2. If class gets boring and you’re getting sleepy (or just got like 3 hours of sleep), try to distract yourself or ask the teacher for permission to go to the bathroom. I always get tired when the teacher goes on and on about stuff for over 40 mins non-stop; however, it’s important to stay awake in case there’s information you will need for exams, class work, etc. so sometimes distracting yourself by thinking of something that keeps you intrigued, doodling, taking a quick drink, etc. can keep your mind from wanting to go into sleep mode (unless you can’t do this without not listening to anything the teacher is saying or it distracts other students). A walk to the bathroom can also get your mind going because ik that over an hour of sitting in a chair is just boring. If there’s something you missed, ask someone to catch you up.

3. Eat food. Breakfast is important. Ik that most of you probably eat breakfast anyway but I’ve had a habit of skipping breakfast before school for the past 3+ years and still struggling with this but yeah

4. If emotions and mental health is interfering with school, talk to someone about it. Always find a supportive person to talk to and get advice from when you need it. This can be anyone; a trustworthy friend, parents, counselors, therapists, etc. Don’t like, overly rely on them, but turn to them when you’re really in trouble and listen to advice when they have some for you.

not in my case. I'm in a Japanese school and I can't even understand a single thing, single subject except for English class. They don't even give homework. Its easier to be in school than walking to school.

do your homework as soon as you can after school, many people i know wait and end up doing homework until midnight, they stress out a lot

handwrite your notes, it makes it easier to remember

don't overload yourself, limit the number of advanced classes if you know you will have a hard a time handling it

if your school offers some kind of free period to catch up, be productive then
