Weird News
"It's not just animals and people who enjoy photobombing our lovingly posed-for snaps - inanimate objects have a knack of upstaging us, too.

Sort of.

When mum and nursery manager Lesley Simpson took her 11 year-old son, Alistair Ross, for a McDonald's after a day's shopping, she took the opportunity to take a picture of his sharp new haircut.

Lesley took the photo, uploaded it to Facebook and that was that.

It was only later while flicking through his mum's phone that eagle-eyed Alistair spotted he wasn't alone in the frame.

Can you see it?

To Alistair's right, is a smiley French fry standing to attention- and looking very pleased with its photo-bombing efforts.

"He was killing himself laughing and when he showed me it the pair of us were rolling around having a good laugh," Lesley told the Daily Record .

"Everyone we've shown it to since have cracked up."

As for the fate of the French fry?
"He would have tried to keep it until it went mouldy if he'd spotted it at the time as it looks so cute - in a weird chip kind of way - but sadly he was eaten."

"We would have kept it if we'd seen him but he was sadly eaten after being dipped into sweet curry sauce."

Which no doubt wiped the smile of the fry's face."

Song recommendation (recommended by KendraHawk)
This week's song recommendation is Winter Things by Ariana Grande:

"Winter Things is cute and simple sounding song. It starts with just a ukelele which continues throughout the whole song, while Ariana is singing about doing Winter things with her significant other. I love the ukulele, I feel that it makes everything seem more like Winter, even though ukuleles come from Hawaii - which is a very hot place. I love that she isn't letting anything stop her from spending time with her loved one." -Kendra

Fun facts about winter (by TheElinaLTU)
Here are twelve amazing facts about winter:
1. The average snowflake falls at about 3 mph / 4.82 kmh
2. The coldest temperature ever recorded was -123° C at Vostok Station in Antarctica in 1983.
3. All snowflakes have 6 sides.
4. The Chinese plum is one of the very few plants that bloom in the winter.
5. Every winter, at least one septillion (That’s 1, followed by 24 zeros) snow crystals fall from the sky.
6. The largest recorded snowman ever built was in Bethel, Maine, in February 1999. It was a whopping 113 feet tall.
7. In winter, it’s possible to walk from the U.S. to Russia, as an icy bridge forms between the Diomedes Islands (parts of which belong to the US and Russia, respectively).
8. The summer sun causes the Eiffel Tower to expand slightly, sometimes boosting its height by six inches. As such, it's shorter in the winter.
9. In 1974, Siberia hit -96° Fahrenheit / -71 Celsius during winter, making Russia the coldest country in the world. Canada, Mongolia, Finland, and Iceland are also in the top five.
10. Ice is considered a mineral.
11. At -40 degrees Celsius (which is also -40 degrees Fahrenheit), the condensation from your breath can actually freeze.
12. Reindeer's eyes change colour from golden to blue during winter. This helps them see in the dark.

Snowball Fight (a story by LaurenDmm)
The ground was sprinkled with snow from last night's snowfall. Rilith grabbed some and moulded it into a snowball, then she threw it at her brother, Daryl. Daryl glared at her and smirked.

"Think you can beat me in a snowball fight? Hah, think again, Rilith!" Daryl shouted. Rilith rolled her eyes, since she was always the winner in these little snowball fights Daryl and she had, but Rilith nodded anyway, a smirk plastered on her face. Rilith was definitely ready to beat Daryl.

Rilith started grabbing snow and making snowballs, putting some down so she didn't have to take up much time making snowballs while snowballing. Rilith aimed at Daryl's arm and shot, surprising a still-making-punny-snowballs Daryl. He glared at her, then threw a snowball at her without even aiming. How did she know? That snowball flew straight past Rilith, hitting a tree. She laughed, then threw another snowball which obviously hit Daryl. Now that Daryl was distracted with planning his revenge, Rilith started building a snow fort.

There were a few times when Daryl shot at Rilith's snow fort, hoping to knock it down, but Rilith found those were easy dodging, with her new snow fort as her protector. Rilith smirked, then popped her head up, aimed, and threw a snowball straight at Daryl's face.

"BULLSEYE!" Rilith shouted, the snowball hitting Daryl straight in the face. Thankfully, Daryl was smart enough to close his eyes. He got a stick and moulded some snow onto it, then waved it, the snow falling back to the ground. Rilith laughed at Daryl's stupidity.

"I surrender Rilith, you win," Daryl sighed. "But next time I will most definitely win!" Rilith laughed at this.

"Suuuuuure!" Rilith smiled.
