City #1: Hytivity

My first building on the world.
I need to redo all the houses as they are all the same and plan boring. But I think the structure of the castle is great.

City #2 Cyntoria

My 3rd city I built. There's still a lot of work needed as the middle tower has many floors empty. And the outer wall needs to be changed sense to doesn't look like a circle but a rounded square.

Btw this is a SAO inspired city

I see many things that can be improved with this.
  1. The first two cities have a strange material choice for the walls, quartz. It’s suggested that you use cobble and wood, since it more fits the style.
  2. The houses in the first city were of high quality, but they did not have much variety. Usually when I make something that has many things, I create 3-4 variations first, then clone them. However, the houses are all extremely uniform, and does not feel like a medieval castle-city, more of a suburban neighborhood with each house looking identical.
  3. The last two cities have a serious problem with the houses. They are extremely crude, and are similar to ones used by the (old) villagers. Cyntoria’s houses could use some variety and development, and Kremden’s houses also need similar improvement. I suggest, in order for you to improve your building techniques, focus on quality, not quantity.

I'm planning to redo houses in hytivity anyways to make them smaller to fit in with the other 2 cities.
Cyntoria will have a redo in texturizing houses.

  1. Kremden’s inner walls could use a lot of detailing. The outer walls only need a material change, but the inner walls are extremely bland, and differ to the houses’ extreme detailing.
  2. Windows could be changed to brown stained glass to match the wood type.

  2. Another design change would be the tower itself. The houses look like they’re supposed to be modeled after medival buildings, but the tower stands out in stark contrast. Not only is it tall, which isn’t a bad thing, but it is extremely modernistic. The tower should be changed to a medieval theme, which would better blend the village.
  3. One more thing about the tower: it, like hivety’s walls, is extremely bland. It more looks like an extremely tall cube than a tower. Even though it should be changed to a medieval style, if you were to improve it, add detail.

I just want to let you know that this world is just for fun. and not for very nice details. This ain't a world that's going on a public server or anything. Maybe future YT videos. But it seems like your telling me that I need to change so many things.

if you look at this map. This was made for a server game and you can tell I put in more details than anything else I did. Btw this map I made by hand with no world edit. I had to use the annoying clone command to copy islands. Which the clone command was so difficult. Also I just started the castle with just stonebricks. then later I ended up adding other blocks to the map to make it look good.
So I pay more attention to maps I make for servers than the builds in Hychal.
