It’s mainly out of the box thinking that this idea is. Servers can detect applications owned on devices although it’s mainly only used for detecting vpn and clients. It is easily possible to detect other applications too.

No servers can detect client files in your mods folder or injected clients when you open the game. This is in .minecraft.

Servers detect vpns because of so many users being in the exact same location where the VPN is set. Most VPN's are in the same place in every country

i mean: Its a known VPN location on their database. If more than a certain number of people join with the same location its pretty obvious
