Really, Spike shouldn't really care about if people hate him or not. Yes, he may have more haters than most people, but there isn't anyone who doesn't have a hater. He has his own friends, and as long as he's happy, he doesn't have much to worry about others.
If he really does care about how people feel about him, there's always a chance to improve, and even though he has done some stupid things, I've maybe have done more, and ya know we all mistakes, as long as we can fix them, it's cool.
