Because he wanted to help. Also, he just posted this thread for about a brokenlens bug in the "Bug Reports" section so vertx and flowingmedia will look at them/it accordingly. Other staff members did it too.
The developer of brokenlens said:

We have the goal to make this server 100% bug free so yeah, it would be cool if the staff members could report these bugs before everybody notices it.

I kinda hate the fact that sometimes people know about a bug but never bother to tell the developers to fix it... /bug is there for a reason.
