The joke was he wanted to get a free rank so I told him to enter into the giveaway but sarcasticly saying don't really because that would lower my own chances of winning

It wouldn’t really lower your chances, gaining more people in the giveaway doesn’t make a difference about your chance of winning, it depends on how you do it.

If 2 people enter a giveaway the chance of person 1 winning is 50% but if 100 people enter a giveaway the same guys chances of winning is 1%
