If I bought the official version, do I still need to pay for the license in 1.2 in for it to support iOS or am I fine?

Nah, this is actually GOOD in a way, we are just getting through the TOUGH part! It will be harder for hackers to get on! It will protect servers! This is just hard for people to get used to -_(“/)_-

Okay, i'll clear this up.

The Minecraft update 1.2, better known as the 'Better together' update adds several factors to minecraft, like being forced to use an xbox account to use servers, another feature is purely for the creators and their profit, and it's the change specified in this thread, YES, you need a licence to play but if you bought Minecraft legitimately (From the app/play store) then this isn't a problem, as it comes inbuilt. if you got it for free, from a website or another way, then yes, it will stop you from playing at all. This is so the creators of Minecraft GET the profit from their game so people stop stealing it. So, if you bought Minecraft LEGITIMATELY You will be fine.

Another GREAT feature is well, one i already mentioned, the fact you need an xbox account (Or the app) this means you cannot at any time change your name. This will stop People from being able to bypass mutes and bans.

Hey guys, umm this update is great you don’t have to pay for the license if you downloaded minecraft the legit way... by actually playing on the App Store if you didn’t well you shouldn’t be playing minecraft in the first place @Verified Fangirl you don’t have to pay for the license if you bought minecraft legit it’s only for the people who tried to get minecraft unfairly...if you got minecraft unfairly and didn’t pay there is nothing to cry over tbh since it’s litterly like I got a 7 $ game for free and now they won’t let me play because I got it for free or I have to pay and play it the real way...

Dude of course it does supports IOS.
(They would never miss that money they can get from IOS users)
And if you bought it from the app store you are fine.
You dont need a real liscense you just need to buy it from the app store.
