A while back I mentioned on how you can try and enter formula 1 and there were a few things I got right but I was missing on quite a few things that should’ve been added. so here I am, lets explains how you can enter into formula 1 (as a driver)

(Keep in mind becoming a formula 1 driver isn’t easy and some people may not be able to get into formula 1 mainly because of 2 things, how much it costs and luck and 2 very good example is the formula 2 driver mahaveer raghunathan and the Dutch driver Nick De Vries)

Step 1: Karting
Almost every formula 1 driver has started their career off with go karting and it is a good idea for it because the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) has their own sanctioning body for go karting but keep in mind you have to buy these go karts as well as a few other things such as tyres and the cost can vary probably around this much $xx,xxx (idk the exact or average cost but it may cost around a 5 digit number). But before you go and compete in the big time (at least in karting) it’s best if you start out in club racing then compete nationally, after all of that you’ll start to compete internationally (a little or a major side note it’s best if you start go karting at a young age like 5 or 6)

step 2: formula 4
If you are a bit confused about why I’m saying formula 4 is because it’s a lower division of racing so don’t correct me if I say either formula 4, 3 or 2. Once you’ve done karting then you can progress into formula 4 but if you want to aim to get a seat in formula 1 then try and enter into the ADAC F4 series or the Italian F4. Now here’s the thing that gets a little bit expensive, you’re gonna have to travel through Europe in order to compete in ADAC or Italian f4 and the cost will go up high significantly so I hope you’re parents are able and prepared to spend a lot more money than usual.

Step 3: formula 3
If you somehow become very successful and possibly win a championship in F4 then you can progress into formula 3 and there are a few formula 3 championship but since we’re focused on being an f1 driver we need to be in the FIA formula 3 championship. If you wanna progress into formula 2 the best advice I can give you is by joining into driver’s academy such as Ferrari, Mclaren, redbull, Mercedes and many more because they’re gonna support you (if you do well in f3). Now one thing I’ll point out is that this is where you start gaining point for you’re FIA super license. What is a super license? Well good question, the FIA super license is basically like a requirement check that are mandatory for you to enter into formula 1 and it can prevent those paid drivers who have the money to get into formula 1 but don’t do very well.

step 4: formula 2
If you become successful and win the championship in f3 you can advance into formula 2 and can’t go back. So once you enter into formula 2 you can now compete but keep in mind it’s gonna be very expensive paying for your seat and what’s even worse is that you need to spend a minimum of 2 years which can be even more expensive.

final step: formula 1
If you succeeded in formula 2 then congrats you can transition into f1. BUT hold your horses there are 2 ways you can enter, if you haven’t been into any driving academy then you’ll have to pay for a ton of money like 30 million euros but if you are in an academy team then sure they’ll let you in but keep in mind there will be others like you who want to enter into formula 1 so you might not enter formula 1 right away unless if you are a relative to certain f1 legends like Schumacher.

few key notes: 1 thing that I must mention that is also important is that you have to be in shape in order to compete so if you are an overweight or underweight person who can’t handle racing a race car then you’re gonna have a hard time.
