Hello! My name is SlayinCornCob/SlayCC and today I will share you what i think is the best way to make an awesome map!
Lets get started!
STEP 1
Think Of A Theme
The first thing you need to do is Think of what the map is gonna be. This is very crucial since the theme will be the main idea of the whole build. You can't just slap things together without thinking of a Theme.
Examples of Themes are: Abandoned City, Scary Mansion, Futuristic Mall, etc.
STEP 2
Plan A Layout
Planning a layout is one of my favorite steps. In this step, you are gonna Answer the What, Wheres, and Hows of your build. You can draw the plans out like blueprints, build the layouts on a minecraft world or just think of the things you want to have on the world. Layout is what makes the map Fun to play at or very irritating and annoying , maps too Small and Cluttery maybe a bit difficult and maps to big and open maybe too boring. You can make changes to it as you go on too. Make sure you plan out your builds carefully.
STEP 3
Building
This is the best and worst part of making a map. Building the actual map. Its self explanatory. Make builds that relate to the Main theme, that they go with the plan and look nice afterwards.
STEP 4
Decoration and Detail
Decorating and detailing is what Makes Or Breaks you Map. This simple things can make a big impact on what you do in your builds. It is not as hard as you think. Simply adding a variety of blocks on the ground will give character to the build. Small rocks and trees, Windows and Furniture. You can even search on the web for ideas. Detailing and decorating simply changes your build to another level.

TIPS
- Ask other people for opinions and ideas. Dont be afraid to ask.
- If you are trying to build something similar thats in real life. Try and get to pull a picture of it on Google while building and use it as a refference.
- Try watching some amazing builders like: GoodTimesWithScar, FamilyDadCraft and Grian. Each Builder specialize in a certain part of building so don't just watch one specific Youtuber.
- Stealing maps is NOT a good idea. You can use them as inspiration but do not copy it exactly.
- Use WorldEdit for making Big maps or just to make simple things. It will help you out a lot.
- After a build fly out to get a better look of it to see of it looks good or not.
