Staffs don’t notify if you’ve been accepted or denied, your rank is simply set to your forums & server account so you won’t receive an email but you probs will realise when there's a lot of people congratulate you on your profile xD

Your staff rank will be set on the server and you will also have a 'Helper' tag on your profile

It can also take days, week, month or even a year to get accepted, just depends on your application

a staff application can take a long time since vertx needs to put trust into the person he will promote to be helper- just one untrustworthy staff can bring the whole team down and we don't want that to happen xP

its already been a few months since i applied mine but if it'll takes years to be accepted then i have the time to wait x)
