How does win10 detection work?

I think a win10 detection exists on the server so that win10 players always deal only 1 damage, how does it work though? I am just curious.

I think it's not a detection of win10 itself, but rather if a player is on a keyboard which is an option in bedrock settings. Java can be easily detected, due to players leaving many traces that they are java when entering the server. That's how I think of it at least.
