How Does One Use The Shovel?

I've been playing splatter for almost an hour and still don't know how the shovel is used, I've been asking people on the server but no one answers. I know what it does how ever every time I try to use it the projectile goes diagonally left instead of straight ahead like it does for everyone else. Is there a correct way to use it or is this a bug?

U tap or hold in the direction u want to splatter, but if it goes sideways, then it's a glitch, it should go where your circle/axis is, but if it's not, then just relog or something XP
( :O bad grammar, it's a run-on sentence XD)
