Short Summary
(May not be 100% correct but it's from memory)

A string of events from some guy that killed his gf on holiday in Taiwan that slowly emerged to the HK citizens realisation that they don't have nearly as much freedom as they believe they did. In 2047 the border of China & HK will no longer still stand and there's indefinite answers on what will happen to HK. At the moment the protesters are currently fighting for "The Five Demands" which is

1.) Full withdrawal of the extradition bill
2.) An independent inquiry into allegedly police brutality
3.) Retracting the protesters classification as "rioters"
4.) Amnesty for arrested protesters
5.) Dual universal sufferage

I thought the protests were about HK wanting to stay democratic whereas China wants them to become a dictatorship like the rest of China, which would result in their freedom and rights being limited/taken away.

Either way it’s a pretty sad situation and the police brutality in response is insane. But I’m glad that some leaders have started to side with HK and take action. :^)

And to unintentionally rub salt into the wound, Hong Kong's current recession is worsening.

I read an article on this for a school assignment a few weeks ago. Yes, it’s quite sad, but this summary is really good .o.

China's like a whole new dystopia world tho. The pointing system and the fact you can't talk ab politics or the leaders. The security cameras everywhere too. Scary stuff.

That's true, I see your point but my intention was more so to bring awareness to the whole protest and see what everyone else's views were. As long as everyone is sensible and can see both sides. I don't see whys there a need to shy away from politics.

Idk how Carrie Lam can say the "police force are just protecting civilians." How can you call 5-6 armed policeman violently beating up one protester while they're suffocating in tear gas "protection." There's been soo many sources that show policeman sexually assaulting some female protesters while "detaining" them.

That "triad" attack in the station and throwing tear gas inside buildings is not only dangerous to protesters but also plenty of innocent hk bystanders that are just trying to make their way to work or school.

Things getting political in BL forums.....I think the protests are interesting, not only because the Chinese government is trying to pull something and the people just aren't having it and are fighting hard, but I'm surprised that Blizzard actually stepped in and stopped the whole 'mei becoming a symbol of protest' (overwatch thing) and now people are boycotting overwatch which I think is great. So far ten people have died, and thousands have been injured/arrested so I hope an agreement is made and this can all come to a stop.

Ehh, I'm Taiwanese and i'll say sth honest.
In short, a crime happened in TW and the criminal should be sent to HK gov.
However the China gov refused, saying that the laws blocked him from getting back to HK. CH thinks that HK is a part of them, but there is a law said HK can decide their own law problems.

Here's another problem between TW and HK:

If Hk government let the criminal to get back to Hk, then it'll mean "HK accepts Taiwan is a country".And this will drive China crazy.

This is surely a violation of citizens' rights.

In TW's opinion, HK and us are independent country, though China never accept.
They think we are part of them.

Hk ppl are furious about their CE and the police, some news showed they are violence to innocents, who has never attacked them.

I will surely say that the criminal should be send to Hk, and just because he is Hk ppl, he should be punished by hk gov.

Basically HK was originally under England's control however they then gave the control back to China and kept the "one country two system law" temporary. HK has a lot more freedom than China right now. However in 2047 the law will change and HK would become apart of China and China's oppressive governing. HK wishes to be independent and have freedom so that's why there's been so many protests these past months.

The main reason why you see so many more protesters that are teenagers/young adults is because the older generation will not be as affected by these laws as their is a likely chance they would've passed away before 2047 comes through. However the younger generation will end up suffering the most once they're under China's control.

I could see from a business point of few pleasing China (one of the most powerful and wealthy economy) benefits blizzard financially. The Hearthstone player also signed a contract to not mention any controversial political views. However everyone knew Blizzard was wayy out of line when they banned him, stripped all his prize money then fired the two broadcasters that didn't do anything. Blizzard also wrote that "Defending the pride of China at all cost" bs. That Hearthstone player didn't even talk ill of China he only showed his support to his country. Absolutely crazy. I'm glad ppl saw through their bs.

It's just a crazy domino effect. That one murder lead to this whole realisation for HK citizens.
