For some reason, my eyes were drawn to the bookmark I made for the BrokenLens forum page. So after a few years of inactivity, I decided to finally visit the forum. As the recent posts have informed me, the server has shut down a while ago. Since I saw some people posting their farewells to the server, I decided to also write my own formal farewell; I’ve pretty much moved on to other ventures, but I believe that a formal goodbye is in order.
I started thinking back to what the server and the community means to me, both the good and the bad. From the cheaters who somehow continued to get away with cheating in games through hacked clients, to players in the community who were just awesome (for lack of a better word), the players made it special. Without the good players in the playerbase, it would just be any old minigames server. I’m so glad to have met the players I met, and I hope that those who once stood by me are having a wonderful life since we last spoke.
When I first came to the server, I believe it was because I was simply going through server lists. Another possibility would be that one of my mates decided to share the server with me, so that we had a server to play and hang out in. That’s where it all started, and during my time in BrokenLens I had my moments. I frequented the Skywars, Survival Games, and HideAndSeek servers when I was still active.
I’ve met players, befriended players, made enemies, made a good and bad name for myself, everything at this point. I’ve tried being more active on the forums as one of my mates said I should be, which is why you’ve probably seen my username a lot at some short moment in time. I like talking to other people, getting to know the nitty-gritty of what makes them unique and special; some appreciated the company, but some apparently didn’t and I apologise to those who didn’t. I’ve tried helping where I could, I even tried making a build guide series to help those who needed a more in-depth guide in building principles.
I’ve made acquaintances, friends, and allies. Most, if not all, of the people I met in BrokenLens have been nice in one way or another. Some were notable in terms of who they were, and some were more than just randoms in my opinion. I will always treasure the time we spent, the laughs we had, the discussions we entered, everything we’ve done. Regardless of how things turned out between us, just so you know that some of you made a big impact in my life. Most of these very special people are probably inactive now like me, some of them even straight up vanished all of a sudden like I did. So if you’re one of these people I mention, you know where to message me if you ever read this. I miss you guys, and hopefully I will be hearing from you soon. I apologise if I suddenly disappeared on you, that can be detailed if you message me.
To those I’ve wronged in one way or another, I have no other way of showing it other than just saying that I apologise. If need be, once again, we can discuss it. I make mistakes here and there, and those mistakes may lead to hurt. What I was back then, for some, is something I would not wish to be today. I try to improve myself where I can, and I hope we can make amends at some point; if we cannot, or it is not possible, then I hope you’ve been living life the best and I truly apologise for being a wound.
I would write more, but I believe this is becoming a bit too long-winded for a goodbye; it is less likely that those who I was slightly directing this message to would read this, so I’d rather just tell them directly what I had to say about them if possible. Although I am not a very notable player unlike the people posting their farewells here, I hope this farewell reaches those who I intended it to. I hope this goodbye message was worth the wait, and I do again apologise for suddenly disappearing for those who were worried if any. To those who want to stay in touch, but couldn’t, send me a direct message in the forum and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
