It's a bit hard to see, but at around 0:03, Wizard clips through the bookshelves to kill the sheriff. At 0:05 he goes back through the bookshelves - 0:06 shows that bookshelves were there too. There weren't any gaps to walk through and the only way to get to the sheriff was to walk in front of her.
