Gold in mm?

Someone told me picking up golds in mm isn't for earning exp? Is that true? What's the real purpose of collecting gold in mm

You get exp for how long you stay alive, I think it’s 10 or 5 exp every 10 seconds. I’m not sure about coins though

golds cant make exp. If you stay alive every 10 seconds you will get 10 exp
