Getting Two pets?

Hi my name is Ruina Oceana and I have a question for u to answer...If I already have a pet and I buy a new one...will my old pet will be gone or its still there?...is it ok getting two pets?Cuz I already have a husk...but I need a cat to buy...so my husk will be gone if I buy a cat?pls I need answer before I buy a new pet
