I don't believe the server kicks you for being afk or anything does it? It might but not for a long while which I don't see why you'd have to be afk for that long otherwise just leave the server and come back once you're done.

That may just be something upon your end, my Minecraft tends to reset once I switch tabs every now and then though its not the server, and it does the same when I'm away from my pc for awhile and the screen shuts off.
