When you pick up the Sheriff's Gun while you're in the first slot of your hotbar, it goes into the second slot of the hotbar unabling/taking too long to kill the murderer behind the murderer

I'll say that this is because they don't want others to know that u are the new sheriff, it also happens when the game started, the sheriff and the murder weapons.

you have to tap the first slot to select the gun. My experience: the gun was behind the murderer and my first slot was ready, i snuck up behind him and when i picked it up, it goes to the second slot and the murderer notice me then i died. Pls understand me

That was probably just a misconvience. I remember I stood literally in front of the murderer and I picked up the gun and I shot him easy peasy. I doubt that situation will ever happen again to you, so there really isn't a need to put in the in second slot...
