Both. It depends. Imo, writing could be fun when it's something you want to write about, something you enjoy writing about, not when you have to write for an essay or something. I don't think no one enjoys writing an essay on what theme the chapter presented using the character's actions or writing an essay on why osmosis works through a cell xD

i have no motivation to do either. took me 2 months to finish It by Stephen King, but honestly if i put more effort into it i probably would've finished it in 2 weeks, maybe 3. with writing, i only do it if i must (eg. school project). i'm good at it but i can never finish anything i start on. again, i've lost my motivation for it.
but overall i guess reading is better, for me anyway.
