The 2x Exp Booster You Get From The Gems Don't Work. :/

Staff are already aware of this, but I don’t think its a bug. The reason why the probably excluded this was to prevent player like @Lachlan to not level up so quickly (lachlan doesn’t give two squats, hes almost at 6000). Hopefully this helps, Have A Nice Day :)!
