Earth day Awareness: Animal Cruelty

I'm honestly really shocked that some of you don't even care and that some wanted to make a joke out of it, but I'm not going to do anything about it because that's you. Not me.

Anyways, I thought this thread would have an impact to the people here but that's ok. I'm not judging your opinion, but I thought it would change you like how it changed me when I first saw into detail about what goes on in factory farms. I turned vegan for lunch to protest against animal cruelty. That's how much it changed me.

My thoughts during that lunch:
"I'm not eating any dairy products of anything related to milk because a cow may be impregnated multiple times and be tortured for their milk."

"I'm not eating any meat as they might have came from an animal that was treated in the most inhumane way possible."

I only ate apples that lunch period. And I got really hungry throughout the day. And I'm glad I did.
Don’t u need meat ._.

Not really. There are other vegans and vegetarians out there and they don't eat meat but they are still surviving.

And if you are wondering, I didn't keep up the vegan act.

Come back when you've dealt with horrible depression in the least healthy way possible and tried a nice big chunk of fillet steak. XD

So as many of you guys know, Earth day is around the corner and Earth has many problems that can be easily fixed. In this thread, I want to talk about a problem dealing with the Earth and that is Animal cruelty.

What is Animal Cruelty?
(Credit goes to Wikipedia) "Cruelty to animals, also called animal abuse, animal neglect or animal cruelty, is the infliction by omission (animal neglect) or by commission by humans of suffering or harm upon any non-human animal, regardless of whether the act is against the law."

The goal of this thread:
The goal of this thread is basically to inform. There are other goals such as:
  • Making other people aware or what animal cruelty is and why it is wrong.
  • Make other people aware of what the animal might have to go through to be on your dinner plate.
  • Make people aware what is going on in the world
  • This thread is not made to change the way you eat.
Why is Animal cruelty wrong?
Animals are living things. They don't deserve to be tortured, killed brutally, or live horrible lives. They have feelings too. They could feel pain. They are living, just like humans. They don't deserve this. Millions or animals are mistreated or killed.

Forms of Animal Cruelty:
  • Neglect: This type of form is a passive form of animal cruelty which involves dehydration, starvation, lack of shelter, infections, and more.
  • Industrial Farming: The meat on your dinner plate from the grocery store? Most likely, the animal was killed brutally and inhumanely. "Farm animals are generally produced in large, industrial facilities that house thousands of animals at high densities; these are sometimes called factory farms." (From Wikipedia). In these factory farms, animals are treated far more worse then neglect. In a video footage I've seen, pigs are thrown violently, killed and slaughtered, with baby piglets tails being cut off and being killed. Chickens heads are cut off anD their beaks trimmed, and sometimes their feet are cut off.
  • Any forced fights involving animals like cockfighting and dogfights are abuse.
Alleged Links involving Animal Cruelty:
  1. Some people who abuse and cause cruelty to animals are people who lager became serial killer and/or rapists.
  2. Children who were abused or see abuse are more likely to abuse animals.
  3. "According to the American Humane Association, 13% of intentional animal abuse cases involve domestic violence" -Wikipedia
Animal Abuse Festivals [Info]:

Disclaimer: These photos do not show any gore.

Most Common Victims of Animal Abuse:
"The animals whose abuse is most often reported are dogs, cats, horses and livestock. Based on the 1,423 U.S. cruelty cases on pet-abuse.com’s 2011 digest in which species of the victim was specified:

  • 70.1% involved dogs.
  • 20.9% involved cats.
  • 24.1% involved other animals.
Undercover investigations have revealed that animal abuse abounds in the factory farm industry. But because of the weak protections afforded to livestock under state cruelty laws, only the most shocking cases are reported, and few are ever prosecuted."

What can we do to help the problem?
  1. Donate. These donations will be used to help the animals through treatment, food, medicine, and more.
  2. Some websites to donate to is: https://www.aspca.org/, https://www.farmsanctuary.org/learn/factory-farming/, http://www.humanesociety.org/, and more.
  3. Raise awareness. Animal cruelty is WRONG. Make sure as much people know that it is. Tell your friends, show your friends this, show your family members. Just make sure the word gets across.
  4. Report any types of animal cruelty you see. Make sure you don't put yourself in danger.
