I don’t think it will, but if it’s just gonna sit there and do basically nothing, the staff might as well delete it

That is something that we are still thinking about. There definitely have been many users asking about this on a regular basis.
I personally think we should at least take some action like tidying up channels, removing advertising (Until we get it back up.), and improving the overall experience. (Server Integration, An uptime bot [Grafana and Prometheus are good ways to start.], Improved chat filters, and a few other things I'm discussing with the team.)
Unfortunately, Not much has changed at this point although I remain optimistic that we can get that platform back up and running. I think we would also need to have dedicated roles on our staff team for handling management of social media platforms and expanding our community outreach given how hectic Discord servers and other platforms can be at times.
I hope this answer is more than sufficient regarding your concerns for the discord server.
