Phoenix. Did not. Trust Galactic. That girl was hiding something, and their other companion, Kiwi, was completely and totally oblivious to it. Come on - she never used her Higher Affinity? That was just plain weird. There had to be some kind of reason.
All three of them were Creators. Phoenix and Kiwi could both manipulate glass, and had found surprisingly effective ways of weaponsing such a seemingly useless ability.
Granted, there were some Creators whose abilities did seem useless to Phoe no matter what - clay, for example. But that was a Basic Affinity, so obviously Galactic wasn't trying to hide that. Hers was plain stone. Kiwi's was diorite, and Phoenix's own was andesite.
When Phoenix had told Kiwi of his suspicions, she'd brushed it off as him just being paranoid and a cynic. Neither of which was true, Phoe thought; he was just realistic.
He glared at the back of Galactic's head as she and Kiwi talked about the group's destination: Subsiniss, capital of the Taiga biome. It would probably be about day more of walking before they reached it, and right now, they were surrounded by nothing but spruce trees, ferns, and boulders as far as they could see.
"Have you guys ever been there before?" Galactic asked, and glanced back at Phoe, her long hair whipping around. It was slightly longer than Kiwi's, and both girls wore their hair in a similar style; however, Galactic's hair was wavier, and while hers was lilac, Kiwi's was a sort of strawberry-blonde colour - slightly brighter and more orange, though. Phoe quickly schooled his face into neutrality as Galactic eyed him - he didn't need her to realise he was suspicious of her.
"No, I haven't," he said tersely.
"First time for me," Kiwi told her happily.
"Huh. Cool, me too," Galactic said, and smiled. "I-"
She broke off and stopped walking suddenly, peering at something between the trees. The girl looked... terrified.
Phoenix looked where she was looking. The only thing that seemed out of place was a small cloud of purple particles, quickly dissipating. He frowned. So... there was an Enderman. Why would that scare Galactic so much? They didn't attack unless looked in the eyes.
Suspicious, he thought, almost triumphantly, as Galactic looked around frantically. When she noticed the Enderman itself standing a short distance from the purple cloud, she seemed to - strangely - relax.
Sure, that's definitely not suspicious, Phoe thought sarcastically, and wondered yet again how oblivious Kiwi could be as she simply said to leave the Enderman alone and ignore it.
And - of course - that didn't work out.
The Enderman must have noticed that Galactic was staring at it, because it suddenly went ape. Poop. Crazy.
The creature let out a horrible garbled screech and disappeared with a soft poof, suddenly reappearing right in front of them. It shrieked again as the three ran backwards. Galactic was the first to attack, summoning a spire of smooth grey stone from the ground under the Enderman's shriek, but the moment the rock touched its foot, it teleported to - wait, where had it gone?
A small flake of purplish stuff floated past Phoe's shoulder, and he ducked just as the Enderman swung a fist over his head.
"Gal, make a bunch of stone spikes like you just did," Kiwi said. "Phoe - glass."
Backing away from the Enderman, Phoenix nodded and prepared himself.
This would be so much easier if I could actually focus, he thought. Then he visualized what he wanted: a wall of glass between himself and the Enderman. Deep breath. There is a wall of glass in front of me. It was there, he convinced himself.
The air in front of him began to ripple with heat as sand appeared in it, whirling around as if there was a powerful wind. It quickly took on a purplish colour, and then melted into a smooth, thick, wall of glass, tinted in swirls of blue and pink. To his left, at roughly a right angle to his own, another one formed - this one was black. That was Kiwi's.
Galactic was standing back. "Now?" she asked.
Kiwi nodded.
And all at once, everything exploded.
Phoenix willed his creation to shatter, as if a giant hammer had struck it from behind, and it did, a thousand shards of pale pink and blue flying forward mixed with the black of Kiwi's glass. At the same time, seven spires of rock pushed through the ground at random angles.
The Enderman teleported away, but not far enough; the spires were still growing slightly, and one pushed forward right through its spindly arm. At the same time, those shards of glass cut through its skin, and it shrieked in pain.
Enraged and injured, the Enderman teleported toward them again, as if it thought it could still fight.
Without a word, Phoenix unsheathed his sword and put it out of its misery.
Still wondering why the creature's appearance had unsettled Galactic so much.

Here it is! After a month, here you go!
Phoe, I hope you don't mind being the person who's super suspicious of everyone - later, other characters will wish they'd been more like you (ooh is Gal evil? Maybe. I'm not saying yet
).
Look Lauren I separated the paragraphs! Yayyy.
