That isn’t copyright. Copyright is when someone uses something exactly, line for line, word for word, colour for colour, without the original person’s consent or giving credit.
But if it’s inspired by something and looks slightly similar - but is different - then it’s not copyright.

There's nothing wrong with this depending on the reason.
If she plans on doing this forever without even trying to improve, I guess that's wrong. But if she does this to try and improve her art skills, then that's fine.
