Mittens' Neighbour
The question arose in my head. How to tell Neko that she was invited to Mittens' house without telling Kayla? I saw the opportunity arise when Kayla went to the bathroom. "Hey, Neko. Don't tell Kayla this ok?"
"What is it, Amy?", she pondered.
"Mittens invited you to his place tonight on CH business, according to Henry. Want to come?". I said this as if she had a choice, she didn't really but she responded with the answer I was looking for and also expecting at the same time.
"Sure, I would love to! What about Kayla?"
"Considering it's on CH business, she can't come. We have to keep it a secret."
"Alright. I can do that. I'll cast a sleep spell on her."
"Isn't that a bit extreme?", I questioned. "No, we do it all the time!", she replied in laughter. "I'll cast it on her drink, slow acting so she'll have time to go to bed.".
With that, Neko grabbed a glass of water and started muttering under her breath. After about ten seconds, she stopped. Just in time too, as Kayla had returned.
"Hey Kayla! This is for you.", Neko said. "Aw, thanks cuz!", she responded and slowly began to sip her drink. She had it all down in her system in about 5 minutes, and I could see the spell was taking effect. Kayla yawned "Wow, I've gotten tired all of a sudden."
"Go to bed then, hun. I'll go and drop Amy home.", Neko said decisively. With that, Kayla went to the bedroom and was out like a light. "Shall we?", Neko queried. "We shall.", I smiled back. We got our things and began the walk to Mittens' house...
We arrived at his house at half seven. I rang the doorbell. I forgot how humongous his house was. It was three stories tall, and fairly modern. He must had gotten it done recently.
Principal Gavin opened the door, while me and Neko were almost freezing to death. "Welcome girls! Come in!".
We stepped into the marble hallway, where Mittens came to greet us. "Hey, it took you both long enough! Go into the dining room, everyone is waiting there for you.", He commanded as we headed down the hallway and took our first right into the dining room. Surely enough, he was right. Sitting at the table were Henry, Emory and Ben. I sat beside Henry while Neko sat opposite to me.
We were all chatting away, having a few laughs and a few glasses of champagne (kiddie's champ that is) until Mittens walked in with a girl I didn't recognise right away. She had a maroon style hair colour and wore makeup to match her hair. She was fairly slim and was wearing a red dress. I knew she would be trouble already. "Hey everyone, this is my neighbour Vicki. She'll be with us for the evening." I spotted they were holding hands and as they sat down, Vicki flashed me a smile, clearly amused by my confusion. I whispered to Henry "I thought you said it was only going to be us?".
He responded quite furiously. "That's what I thought too. Before you arrived, he said his neighbour was coming over so he cancelled the meeting."
I wondered a lot of things by this point. Why would he cancel? Why was he holding her hand? Were they... a couple...?
