Recruitment - Part 2

We were surrounded. Trapped. Possibly facing death in the eye. A lot of thoughts raced through my head. Is this how I would die? Killed by these monsters along with the people I had called friends? I closed my eyes and stood there. The silence before the storm. The peace before death. That was until I heard a voice saying "Need a hand?"

I opened my eyes almost immediately as it was a voice I didn't recognise. I was gazing into blue eyes. They weren't Mittens' eyes. I realised the boy was extending his hand. I grabbed it as I was pulled up from the ground, pondering how I ended up on the floor. "Are you ok?", the boy queried as he looked around at everyone else. "Yeah, I'm fine. What happened?", I replied.

"You got knocked out cold, along with your friends."
"Wait, what?"
I saw that Mittens, Emory, Henry, Neko and Kayla were also on the ground, presumably knocked out by these things too. However, there were no more of the attackers in sight.

"What happened to those-"
"I took them out. They're named Hylushas. Gavin told me once I got my Shamrock Key as well. Guess he never told you that!". The boy laughed. He clearly saw this amusing.
"Who are you even?", I interrogated. I appreciated him helping but the boy hadn't even introduced himself!

"Well, if you were listening closely, I mentioned a Shamrock Key... I'm the sixth hero. Ben's the name!". Ben had given off an arrogant vibe, kind of like Mittens when he first joined our group. However, his eyes were kind, similar to Mittens' eyes. The difference between them was that Ben had dark hair, not quite black, but not quite brown either. He seemed older than us, considering we were only fourteen when we first met him.

The others were starting to stir, so we helped them up and later explained to the other heroes what happened. I was going to tell Neko and Kayla, but we couldn't trust them at the time.

End of the school day...

We found ourselves back in the familiar dimly lit office of Mittens' foster parent. "Let me get this straight", Mittens started.
"We got knocked out by those things, which are called Hylushas…", Henry continued.
"And Ben, who had a Shamrock Key tracker found us and took out the Hylushas all by himself?", Emory finished.

"Yep, that's right!", Ben confirmed eagerly. "I traced all five Shamrock Keys to where you all were and knew I had to do something if I wanted to have a team to take down Krannus."

"Krannus what now?", I asked confused.

"Krannus is a being that commands the Hylushas you were facing. He must had found the trace and wanted to see how you all would do.", Principal Gavin explained.

"Well, that didn't go well for us did it?", Mittens replied.
I interrupted the conversation. "Wait... Ben, you mentioned all five Shamrock Keys, right?". He nodded.
"Only four of us had Shamrock Keys."

"That's where you're wrong.", Ben gloated. "One of those two girls with you was reeking of a Shamrock Key. I don't know which one, but one of them is the fifth hero."

There was a moment of silence. Suddenly, Emory quietly remarked "We left them on their own. They could be getting attacked right now!"

I checked my tracker, that Gavin only provided us with following the recent incident. "They're on Main Street.", I said. "They should be fine."

"Wrong again, little lady.", Ben remarked. "I've got Hylusha readings in Main Street."

"You're kidding right?"
"Well, we got to help them!"
"Main Street is ten minutes away!"

"We better start running then". As fast as lightning we all sprinted out of Gavin's office frantically in order to attempt to save our defenseless friends once again...
