The Prophecy - Part 2
Right, before I start with what happened next, I feel like I should explain Mittens' background a bit more. Basically, his family were a famous family that were arrested for a great heist gone wrong. Mittens, who was pretty young at the time, was arrested by association. He was sentenced to ten years in a juvenile correction facility, in hopes to make him more disciplined, although he tells me he can't remember the crime which landed him there. There was outrage over this, of course and so he was released from his sentence early, just in time for him to start his first year at PR High. As for the nickname, Zek and Kat called him that first, then everyone else did. He eventually took his nickname with pride as a way to tell the Brown twins to shove it. Right, rambling over!
Mittens was the one to knock on the door of his foster parent, considering his family was still in jail, he was in foster care. "Come in."
We all trudged inside the dimly lit office with care. We all stood in a line and said in unison "Good Morning, Principal Gavin."
"Good Morning, students. Welcome back to school!". Principal Gavin looked quite similar to Mittens, although Mittens was being fostered by him. He also had blonde hair, but kept it gelled back slickly. He wore a suit and tie, because that was the norm with males teachers, including the principal. Principal Gavin ushered us into four conveniently placed chairs in front of his desk. "Weird", Henry whispered to me. "It's like he was planning for this to happen."
I shrugged back in response. "Probably a coincidence", Emory replied, his voice low.
"Right", Principal Gavin started as he sat in his own chair. It looked much more comfortable than our hard wooden chairs. He had a pillow on his one, along with a padded back. "I wanted to talk to you four as I believe..."
We waited in anticipation as he took a second to cough, out of all things. "I believe you four are part... of the prophecy here on Celtic Hero Island". He took a sip of his tea, most than likely herbal tea. Mittens claimed he drank a lot of herbal tea.
We looked at him in pure shock. "Us?"
"The Prophecy?"
"You're kidding right?"
"Surely you are!"
"I'm not. The Prophecy claims six young teenagers will be chosen by fate to protect the island of Celtic Hero. After viewing your progress in school over the last year, I'm almost certain you all will be selected!". Gavin looked at us with a serious look in his crimson eyes. Suddenly, Emory queried "I'm no mathematician but there's only four of us? Plus how are we being selected "by fate" if YOU'RE telling all of us this?"
"He has a point, Gav", Mittens agreed.
"Well, I've been getting readings lately that the Shamrock keys are in a 5 kilometre radius of the school", the principal responded. "Over the next few days, IF my theory is true, YOU will find them and they will bond to your DNA".
"This sounds TOO much like some Power Rangers bull-"
"Language, Demetrius", Gavin interrupted.
"And yes, I know it does sound quite like Power Rangers, but it's different".
"The difference being?" I butted in for the first time since Gavin told us about us being selected.
"This... is real life." Gavin replied.
I gotta say, I didn't believe it at first but surely, Gavin's predictions came true. We all had found these "Shamrock Keys" within a week of Gavin telling us everything. Each one was weird. It was shaped like a shamrock but were different coloured. Mine was pink, Henry's was green (but a REALLY green green), Emory's was blue and Mitten's was yellow. By that point, we hadn't any clue what these keys would unlock, but we knew it would unlock something, otherwise they wouldn't be called keys.
The only thing that bugged me at this time was that Gavin said there would be six of us. We only had four at the time, meaning we would have to try to find the other two heroes before the power of the keys fell into the wrong hands...
