For me it depends on the subject. I haven't written a proper note for Chemistry since October (see, I tried putting my notes on file paper and then copying them into my notebook, but I ended up not having time for it so now I just have an enormous stack of file paper in no particular order shoved into a notebook that I just avoid at all costs because I'm ashamed of it XD) and I haven't gotten less than 70% in Chemistry all year. It actually irritates my mum that I can survive school like this.
But then there's Literature, and I absolutely LOVE reading but keeping that subject is the biggest regret ever. Teacher at the start of the year: It's all up to your interpretation of the work, blah blah blah, as long as you can support what you say with evidence from the story it's good. Teacher after a test: No, I don't like that idea that the simile doesn't seem very much like what it's meant to describe. No, you don't get a mark for that, that's just silly.

The simile that I'm talking about, for that example of how much I hate the subject (and teacher) was comparing a blow in a stickfight to a breeze. We were supposed to comment on its effectiveness. I put that while they're both fast and hardly noticeable until they're done, etc, a hit in a fight is a harsh, forceful thing while a breeze is gentle and peaceful.
