Chapter 9: Surprised In Every Direction
“Wow, this place is incredible!” I said. “Heh, I know right? The people here are friendly, the place is lush and green, the water is crystal clear. Everything here is amazing.” Alex responded. He turned on the radio in his shuttle, it was playing Fugitive by Marcus Mouya, starring Kedo Rebelle as the singer. “Wow, lucky timing.” Alex said as he started looking for a landing pad. “So, what are we looking for exactly?” I asked. “We are needing a Heavy Duty Suspension, Twin Turbine Boosters and a can of Nitrox 6, it is a very efficient fuel,” Alex answered. “Hey Matt, where you at buddy? We are going to start training soon!” Lauria said in my com. “I am with a friend, I’ll be back soon.” I answered. “Who is your friend.” Lauria asked as I looked at Alex. “He prefers to keep his identity a secret.” I replied. “Huh, not a social type eh? Well just get here as soon as you can.” Lauria said. “I will. Matt out.” I said as hanged up the call. “Who’s that?” Alex asked. “It was Lauria, you know-” I said before I was interrupted. “The one that helped me get kicked out? Yep, I remember her. It’s a shame that Adam is far up himself. I looked up to him when I was a child. He was a hero in my eyes.” Alex said as he landed the shuttle. “I guess we have arrived?” I asked. “Yeap, I am gonna go and get the things, you can hang out here if you want.” Alex said as we both hopped out of the shuttle. “Alright, also… don’t get yourself killed” I joked as Alex chuckled. “Hey! It’s Matt!” Someone shouted. “Oh boy.” I said to myself, I then analyzed the people who were approaching me, one of them was wearing a man with a black hood, a shirt of a navy blue snake skin pattern, leather strapped around him and green camouflage pants, military grade boots and the eyes of a viper, glowing lime… it felt like I was staring death in the face, but the other was a girl, she had wispy hair like fire, eye color that looked like chocolate, she was also was also wearing boots that went up to her knees, leggings, and a t-shirt. “I was wondering how Rainbow was doing, when I saw she got accepted into the guardians I wanted to know if she is doing fine.” She asked. “Wait, you must be Strelitzia, and… Viper?” I said. “Yes, we are indeed.” Viper said with his reptilian voice. “Yeah, she is doing fine.” I answered as I spotted Alex coming back to load up the shuttle. “Wait, that’s not you’re shuttle?” Strelitzia asked me. “No, it really isn’t. I am just hanging out with my friend Alex.” I answered. “Wait, Alex? You mean Cyber? The Desert Dweller from the news?” Viper asked me. “Pfft, who else would it be.” Alex answered. “Besides, I was just heading home. The news always try to get you worried from one point to another.” Alex added. “He has so many points he can become a hexagon.” Viper said as Alex’s eyes grew large. I think he wasn’t expecting that. “Anyways… I have things to do, so… I think we may see you two later.” Alex replied. “Yeah, we’ll see you guys soon.” I added as Strelitzia and Viper left. Viper gives me the creeps, egh… Note to self, ask why Rainbow is friends with Death.
