Chapter 13: Duty Is Calling
“Ah, there you are Adam. I was worried about you!” Alex said. “Oh, nothing I couldn’t handle. The menace, Tennat got away though.” Adam said. “Is it me, or is Adam trying to pull something? He said it was nothing he couldn’t handle… when Tennat got away!” Rainbow told me. “You have a point, let’s just lay low and see what he’s up to, maybe he joined the opposing side, but I don’t know. Let’s see what happens.” I replied. “Hey Rainbow, we got some bad news. Next on Tenant's hit list is your hometown… the Kijila Sector.” Alex said as a worried face grew on Rainbow’s face. That means we have one shot, if we miss… Strelitzia, Viper and Rainbow will lose their homes. “We need to contact Leona, she is the brains out of the group… and doesn’t get much attention. Maybe we can get a plan on what to do to prevent the destruction of the Kijila Sector.
“Well, the sun is setting, I am going to get some shut eye. The fate of the Kijila Sector is on our shoulders and we can’t risk it getting destroyed.” Alex said. “Good point, it’s best to have the energy to prevent the attack than to be sleeping on the job.” Milton said, I wonder where he was when we were here.
Everyone was asleep, now was my chance. I slowly came to the Ship’s CPU, and it was SOME HOW at max volume, think Leona was playing video games or something, I then turned off the sound as quickly as I could, and disabled the weapons system… yaaaa, Adam is the best yaaaa.
A Day Later… Just Outside of the Kijila Sector
“There is the Ship and OH MY GOSH!” Alex said as he saw the giant ship, I think that is how they destroyed the Sectors. “Ok, so Adam. Do you have a plan?” I asked. “Oh, um… I think I will try to come up to this menace, try to reason with him… and see if we can talk this out, mono eh mono.” Adam said. “Uhhh… I am confused. Why would you want to talk to some person who is trying to destroy a Sector?” Alex asked. “What he said.” Rainbow added. “Guys, I think I have an idea, the ships are guarded by 18 shield turrets, if you can lure them into destroying each other you should be able to get access.” Leona said as we heard four clicks mid-sentence and saw Adam heading to the ship. “What is he, suicidal?” Lauren asked. “What ever, we need to take out those turrets.” I said. “Uh… guys, we don’t have any weapons!” Alex said dodging a lot of heavy fire. “Give me a second… alright, there we go. Alright, Backup Weapons online. We only have our Trace Blasters, but it should be enough.” Alex said. “Thanks Alex.” Almost everyone said.
“WOHOO!!! Why do I forget how fun this is!” I said as I flew into the ship. “Ok, I am in. Now what?” I asked. “Find the terminal where the laser is fired, you need to act quickly before the sector gets destroyed. The Evacuation has also been started when the ship arrived, so please… hurry before anyone gets left behind.” Leona said. “Copy that, I will let you know as soon as I find the terminal.” I said equipping my crowbar. “It’s gotta be close, I can feel it in my gut.” I said to myself. “Hey Alex, I think you may need to hurry, I believe Jake is in trouble.” Leona said.
“Come here, Defect!” The big warbot said, I believe it was named Vex. “Gotta find away to cut off this rust bucket.” I said as I dashed my way to avoid Vex. “Stormcaster, equipped.” The CPU said as I grabbed the weapon from the locker, I fired and waited. “Heh, looks like you missed.” Vex said. “Missed, yes. But am I waterproof? Yes.” I said as I saw Vex getting rusty, he then got so rusty he froze in place. I then tapped him on the face and saw him shatter into rusty scrap metal. “JK Unit 29 here, Vex is done for.” I said. “Way to go Jake, what happened?” Leona asked. “Eh, he got a bit rusty with his attacks. Let’s just leave it at that.” I said.
“I am at the terminal, what do I do?” I asked. “Leona?” I asked again… no answer. Then everything froze, I was stuck in place. “Well, look at that. The rat fell for the cheese in the trap.” Tennat said. “Tennat! You don’t know what you’re doing!” I yelled as I started to float. “Well, the good people of the realm had their time in the sky, now it’s OUR turn! Throw him in one of the shuttles! I want him to witness his failure!” Tennat screamed out. “Fire the Laser!” Tennat added. “READY THE LASER!!!!!” Someone else screamed out as I got forced into a escape shuttle, voyaging off, it’s course was set to the Neco Sector. I guess he wanted the Dune Rat to crawl back into it’s hole then, and in a blink of an eye I saw Adam… talking to his men. ‘Adam…” I said as he noticed me, I was growing pain on my face. “This, is awkward.” He said pressing a button repeatedly, closing the door and I was then sent off, then everything went still… the Kijila Sector… was no more.
