With a splash of color, I ran around the corner.
I readied my shovel, facing the player in front of me. She had dark hair with pink eyes, and was completely dressed in yellow.
This wasn’t any normal player though. It was Cheesy, my friend on the Lime team. We made a deal to try not to splatter one another for as long as possible- even though she had “accidentally-on-purpose” splattered me because she “didn’t see me”.
I waved at her, then walked around her and continued splattering the ground, when the wool underneath me suddenly turned lime-colored. I spun around, but then there was a sudden DING, and instead of taking damage, nothing happened.
Time-out. I thought, then ran over to Cheesy. She was looking at all the wool.
“A tie?” I offered.
“Sure!” Cheesy said, “Good game Shive!”
“Yeah, good job too!”
“By the way…” she said just as I turned away, “did Xbam come back yet?”
“Nope,” I replied, “But it’s only been a few days, Cheesy.”
“But I’m impatientttt!” she complained, then said, “Oh well! See you tomorrow at the Choosing!” Then, my eyesight blurred and I was back in the Magenta Team Fort.
It was actually kinda boring without Xbam. He was just always talking.
Then, suddenly the air writhed and squirmed, and I caught a glimpse of the Portal. Xbam tumbled out of the hole and collapsed on the ground. The hole closed behind him.
“Xbam!” I shouted. He had already gotten up, but he was panting and sweating. A crowd had gathered around while Xbam caught his breath.
“Whew!” he wiped his brow, “Guys, I’m warning you, DO NOT go in the Portal. That place is a mess!”
The crowd murmured. “Continue,” I urged.
“This game called SkyWars is COMPLETELY destroyed, I mean, there’s just bits and fragments left. And usually, you can’t see other people traveling in the Portal, unless you’re touching them. But, geez, there were SO many people. I wonder how many got lost...”
“But how could a game get destroyed?” A voice called out in the crowd.
“I dunno,” Xbam replied, “Just try to stay away from the Portal.”
“But what if that happens to us?!” someone cried out.
“We won’t be safe here!” another added.
Everyone started yelling, and arguing, while I went towards Xbam. “You okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. But really Shive, listen to me. You can’t go anywhere.”
“I know...” I said, but then added, “But if this does happen to us..."
“You can’t stop me from trying.”

“You sure want to come with me?”
The girl stared at me. She had brown eyes and hair, and had this white and black outfit. “Yes I’m sure. Now let’s go already.”
I rolled my eyes, “Fine Rainbow. Just try not to get lost, that’ll be bad.”
Rainbow smiled. “Lead the way, Aus.”
I took Rainbow’s hand. I was going to find out what caused this, no matter what.
