I SUCK at TSW.
Hey, it isn't my fault that I was born with absolutely ZERO fighting skills.
So maaaybe I should have thought twice before choosing TSW as the game to go to... But then again, we were probably all about to die so...
Next to me, Magic was nervously tapping her fingers on her knee. Ever since we woke up and went to this big room that Lucky called "The Choosing Room", she seemed unsettled.
"Hey Magic..." I said, deciding to speak up, "You okay?"
"Uhhh yah," she said in that weird derpy way she had of talking, "Just had a weeeeird dream..."
When I didn't respond, she continued, "It was like... the whole world was falling apart and we were in the middle of it all..."
Her words sent goosebumps up my arm. Who was "we"? And "falling apart"? What did that mean?
Lucky tapped me on the shoulder, "Choosing time," he said.
I was instantly alert. I really, really, really, REALLY hoped I didn't get chosen.
Which was kinda pointless, since I was the first one to start floating.
I had been to TSW before, and that's basically how it works. Everyone loses their auras, then three people start to magically float, and they get these SUPER bright yellow auras. I swear, it hurts to look at them.
Of course I'd never got chosen before. Or I'd probably be dead.
Then some random guy started floating. But last was Lucky.
Some players gasped, and one even clapped. I guess they hoped that since Lucky was on the team, they'd win.
"Good luck!" Magic shouted, then to Lucky with a grin she said, "Not that you'd need it of course!"
I smiled slightly, but I knew we'd need all the luck we could get. Especially since I was on the team.
The scenery blurred, and with a faint sense of nausea, I was suddenly standing on a small island made of clay. There was a tree with pink leaves, and two giant candy canes. At the middle, there was a giant cake island. 12 islands surrounded the cake, including the one I was one. Lucky was next to me on one side, and some Red guy was on the other side.
And Magic? Don’t worry, she’s spectating. When you don't get Chosen, you become a spectator, which means you turn invisible and can magically fly and stalk people.
I opened one of the chests, then the other one. By the time I had organized my stuff, Lucky had already built a bridge to my island.
"You've played TSW before, right?" he asked me.
“Yeah... Sorry if I'm bad though..."
"It's fine," he said, "We'll win anyway!"
"Um, yeah! We'll win!" I said, still unconvinced.
Lucky started building a staircase bridge to the next island, then jumped off landing right on top of the Red guy. Before I knew it, the Red guy was falling down into the void.
I followed Lucky onto the island. I opened my mouth to say something, but he put a finger over his lips, then pointed down.
I saw two faint Red auras. Ohh... they must be hiding under there..! I nodded, and got out my stone sword. Lucky went down the ladder, and I followed.
But I couldn't stop my hands from shaking
~
"Is that it?"
A figure walked around in the walls of its cave. It had been hidden here longer than it could remember... wherever "here" was.
"They finally... broke past our spells, didn't they?" it continued, still talking to itself. "We were trying to protect them. But it’s too late now."
The figure laughed, its pumpkin head leaning back.
"There’s no hope left. This virus will destroy the world as we know it. Unless..."
It tilted its head to the side, studying its wooden fingers.
"Unless someone finds us. And I think I might have the faintest idea of who that might be..."
