When you see online members there are members guests and bots. What do the bot do?

I think they are like security cameras so if they see anything suspicious or inappropriate they warn staff or mute you. But this is just my guess so it could be right or wrong.

A lot of the bots are bing, facebook, etc. They might be taking data lol
