"You." A usually quiet voice seemed to reverberate through the animated hallway. People walked in this place like the way a gas fills a jar; no matter how few of them there are - all the space will be taken. It's like they are programmed to get as far from one another as possible, make no eye contact and move fast. That's just the way people worked apparently. The person ambulating towards Aypi had luminous chocolate locks which bounced upon the contact of her feet touching the glistening tiles. Her hair was a lovely whisky, the colour of fallen leaves browned and sleek with the first rain of autumn. How such a tint could play with the light, like peering at the sun through a jar of pine honey. Her walk was brisk and Aypi realised that she would not be wasting any time.
"Lauren," Aypi greeted evenly. Lauren stopped in front of him, leaning on the lockers of the hallway. Her eyes were grey, not a dull, unremarkable grey like that of concrete or stone. They were the grey of the last ashes on a fire, tossed up on the breeze; the grey of a pigeon's wing, soft as down; the grey of the ocean an instant before dawn's first rays strike the water. Those eyes glanced his way once, and ensnared him from that moment in a net of intrigue. Her eyes are so alluring, Aypi mused, shaking out of his reverie as her ashen eyes scanned his, expectant of an answer he had missed due to his fascination. "Sorry," he apologised, rubbing the nape of his neck. Lauren frowned, brushing her sepia strands out of her face.
"I need your help." Aypi frowned, tilting his head to the left slightly, confused. Lauren sighed, taking it as the motion to continue. "I-I keep getting harassed by these guys. Apparently 'no' isn't a word in their vocabulary," Lauren sighed, looking down at her feet. Aypi could feel his brows knitting. His lips were taut and his eyes narrowed. It was rare to see Lauren anything but confident so this came as a shock to him. A wave of protectiveness swept over him which also shocked him. He had never needed to protect anyone before, especially not Lauren. They had always been just friends.
"Let me guess. You need me to buy you cookies and watch 'Hamilton' with you again?" Aypi attempted to joke. But it was to no avail as Lauren merely sighed, facing him. Aypi's half smile turned to an empty expression. He didn't know what else to do. "Lauren, I'm not sure how to help if it's not Hamilton." Lauren groaned, her cheeks a little bit pinker than usual.
"I need you to be my fake boyfriend for a few days."
"Excuse me?"

It had been a few hours since Aypi and Lauren had 'discussed' Lauren's little dilemma. Aypi felt his brow furrow, a bead of sweat forming on his left. He shook his head as if to clear the confusion his heart felt, instead trying to focus on the algebraic equation in front of him. If u = 1 and i = 4, that'd be 24 x 1 + 19 x 4 = ? So that means I just need to figure out the differences between 'u' and 'i' and- wait, no that's not right! From that point on in Math, Aypi was stuck on the differences between 'u' and 'i' but really, his mind was plagued on memories of the girl with incandescent cocoa curls and silvered eyes.

"Lauren," Aypi called out, watching her check her phone. Her head snapped up, eyes wide. "I've decided." Lauren hastily put her phone away, walking towards him, although with Aypi's long strides, they were standing before one another in less than four steps.
"And?" her voice seemed strained. Aypi saw the flash on colour on Lauren's cheeks as she waited apprehensively.
"I'll help you." Lauren let out a sigh of relief, placing her hands on her knees, smiling at Aypi widely. Her smile shone like stars after dark, with no city lights to dim them. For in that moment time stopped to stare and admire her. Her mouth opened to say something but an obnoxious voice from behind stopped her.
"Hey, you." Aypi frowned, taking Lauren's hand subconsciously, pulling her gently towards his torso. Aypi's eyes narrowed, seeing a group of boys, closer to Lauren's age than his - after all, they were about seven months apart.
"I don't believe we've met," Aypi replied curtly, his blood beginning to boil under his skin. Lauren groaned quietly in his chest and Aypi fought the urge to pat her on the head, instead, indirectly squaring up to the other boys. "I'm Lauren's boyfriend, Aypi. Who are you?"
"Boyfriend?" One frowned. "I've never seen you two really hang out much."
"It's none of your business if you see us together or not," Aypi snapped. Lauren looked up at him, eyes wide in surprise. "Now, if you'll excuse us, it's best we leave. Now." Cursing under his breath, Aypi led Lauren away, ignoring the faint jeering and catcalling behind him.

"Lauren, I want to take you out," Aypi said, closing his Math book in exasperation. Lauren looked up from her perch on the floor. She had a pile of books surrounding her. Her hair was up in a messy bun and her soft, grey orbs looked confused but kind.
"Are you ok? We aren't really dating," she frowned. Aypi felt the slight sting from his heart but ignored it. He didn't know why that hurt but it did.
"I know. But I want to fake date properly," he replied stubbornly. Lauren laughed quietly. Her laugh softened the room, as if her gentle sound could make the lamplight more golden and the fires burn warmer.
"Why not," she agreed. She let her elongated limbs stretch out and Aypi could only watch and unknown to him, his heartbeat began to accelerate.

Lauren had left Aypi's house about two hours ago and it had been enough time for him to shower and go through about twenty different shirts before going to his original choice which consisted of a light grey polo, an onyx leather jacket, navy blue jeans and black converse. He had just finished applying the gel to his hair before the doorbell rung.
"Coming!" Aypi called, rushing down, spiffing his hair for the last time. He opened the door to see Lauren although she didn't look like the casual Lauren he saw every day. She wore black thigh length boots, a light pink denim skirt, complete with a black, cropped singlet. Her hair was in a fishtail plait with pink flowers gently placed through her chocolate locks. He had never seen her so angelic, so exquisite, so beautiful.
"Woah," Lauren breathed, her eyes swooping up and down. "You look amazing." Aypi felt his jaw drop.
"Me," he shook his head. "Have you seen you?" Lauren's lips pulled into a close-lipped smile. Aypi took her hand. "Let's go."

There was a large maple tree that was in the middle of a park Lauren and Aypi had first met at. Aypi had been sitting there, looking at the couples around him, looking at the fairy lights adorning the tree branches. But the fairy lights seemed to be a massive halo because underneath stood a flawless girl, eating her own ice-cream, leaning upon one of the oak trees near the lake. So Aypi had kindly asked if she would like to share the bench he had been sitting on which seemed to be the first time their connection sparked, unknown to them. So it made sense they were sitting together on the same bench, looking at the fairy lights in the trees, eating the same ice-cream flavours they had eaten around four years ago.
"This is really nice, thanks for taking me here tonight, Aypi," Lauren smiled, placing the ice-cream to her lips, looking around. Aypi smiled, looking down at her. God, he really wanted to tell her how he felt. How she made him feel. When he sees her, it's as if space and time become the finest point imaginable, as if time collapses into one tiny speck and explodes at light speed. It's as if his universe begins and ends with her. He could run forever, search forever, but in the end, every path leads him right back to her heart and soul. But as always, his mouth stayed closed, but also, like every other time, his heart fell more for the girl who wasn't really his.

"Lauren, it's late. I'll take you home tomorrow," Aypi yawned. Lauren nodded, rubbing her eyes.
"Thanks," she whispered, smiling. She looked around. "Do you have anything I can wear for the night?" Aypi tossed her one of his shirts and she walked into the bathroom. Aypi looked at his bedroom seeing his bed. There'd definitely be enough room for the mattress to fit in here. He trudged downstairs to the cupboards in his study, seeing only boxes. He frowned. It couldn't have disappeared.

After a solid twenty minutes of searching, Aypi gave up, walking back upstairs to his room. He saw the dimmed lights, poking his head in to see a sleeping Lauren laying on his bed. He smiled. Gingerly, he lay the covers over her. Getting up to leave, he brushed off his clothes. He'd just sleep on the couch tonight. He was about to leave but a hand grabbed his. He turned around to see Lauren, her eyes half closed and her words were slurred but what she said was still clear to Aypi.
"Stay." He nodded, knowing he wouldn't be able to say no. He delicately lay down next to her, trying to avoid waking her up too much. He switched off his beside lamp, tracing circles into her back. Her breathing deepened and Aypi lay there, mind buzzing. Carefully, he stopped tracing circles on her back, instead tracing 'I love you'. He was about to write something else when the bed shifted, springs groaning slightly. Lauren's voice was quiet and gentle, like it always was. But the words that left her mouth were ones that she had never said before;
"I love you too."

I get this urge too, to pat people's heads that is xD

firstly, my hair irl is shorter than even some of my male classmates, so it's theoretically impossible for me to tie my hair in a messy bun :D also my eyes are black like my soul ;3; xD

me 10/10 but i usually end up wearing them all on top of each other instead xD

I'd totally rock this outfit tbh :o especially the pink denim skirt. i'd make it the brightest pink ever to torture people's eyes :>
