@Aypifox Marie Fox was a fitting name for such a nice, sly girl. Well that was what my mom told me once. But now she was gone. And I didn't mean anything but with her gone I could think about every time I was scared to do something. Like helping a dog with a broken leg or bird with a broken wing. But anyway, back to now. I was sitting on my window seat watching my sister play with our dog, Rock. She was the throwing the frisbee and he was playing keep-away. It made my chuckle a little but not much. I was much more worried about the missing case of my friend. My best friend. Her name was Rosemary Leger and not only was she a cry baby but if someone messed with her she would beat them up. And it definitely wasn't like Rosemary to leave without telling anyone. She had to tell someone. Right? I wandered out of my room and blindly downstairs. I couldn't see my sister and I didn't mind. Not much happened out there in my front yard. It's not like she could go missing too. Or could she? I sprinted upstairs crushing my cup of water on the way. She was gone. Oh, what was wrong with me? I needed to find her. That was when I noticed the flock of birds lowering something into a nest. I squinted. Zula. My sister. Running outside I grabbed my coat and pulled Rock inside then ran to the forest keeping Zula in sight at all times. A few cars honked I didn't care. It took a while but I finally was there and an inch away from the nest. I grabbed it waiting for my death. Underneath me, 20 feet terrifed me. I tried not to look down and hovered up into the nest. Inside, Rosemary and Zula lay waiting with chains all over them with knifes an inch away from their necks. I grabbed the knifes.
"Marie! Save us!" Marie reached down her father's hunter sword she found to help find the birds and kill them. But it wasn't a bird. It was a devil. She squinted into the light but still saw the devil lunging for him she missed and almost fell off the tall tree. The devil laughed and talked in a cold voice that didn't sound like a bird.
"Good luck." Marie wasn't giving up she pushed herself up. Her heart was pounding and she noticed the knifes very close to her friends necks. She grabbed it just in time for it not to kill Zula and Rosemary.
"Who? Your best friend or sister?" The devil asked quietly. Marie twirled around. He was standing on the side of the net, two more knifes in his hands.
"I'm going to save both, but first Zula." She cried and heard Rosemary shriek in terror. They ran home to freedom. But as so Marie thought more and more of Rosemary. What would even happen to her? She wanted to run run and run back. But this was for safety. She needed a clue. Ducking behind a tree she followed Zula's fast footsteps. She needed to find Rosemary. And she couldn't scare Zula alone. She stopped for a moment then ran after Zula marking the location of where the nest was in her mind. She would come back to Rosemary when she had a chance.
