Am I unlucky or is this a bug?

Last time I was on sky wars (about a day ago) I had started a match with nothing in any of my chests on my island, other people on islands near me had gear aswell. Either I have the worst luck or this is a bug. Please inform me which is is. Thank you!

Bug. the server usually gives you a warning about it.
