I started running, running was all I could do. Run away from life, run away from all the problems and people, run away from this horrible world, just run. I gazed back, No one was following me anymore but I had to keep running. I could see a light from the distance. Freedom, Finally a light, a light in the darkness. The forest finally ended. The light from the sun was bright. I have never seen so bright light in my entire life.
I looked around my surroundings, I saw a small town ahead but no people. Nothing. I walked a bit on the road towards the town but before I could enter the town. I looked down on my hands and what I was holding. In my left hand I held a gun, which were almost out of Ammo, And on my right I held a Walkie talkie.
“Channel 4 wasn’t that what she said?” I mumbled to myself.
I turned it on trying to get an answer from the other end where my comrade was.
“Hello, Hello?” I tried once more.
“Fire, Fire is that you?” I heard slightly.
“Yes, It’s me. Erin, where are you?” I asked with a smile on my face.
“I’m on a road going towards ‘Ivywood’, you?”
“Wait.” I walked towards a sign, trying to look where the town’s name is.
“There, I think this is a miracle but I’m actually at Ivywood right now.” I said with a happy voice.
“Great, I guess we will see each other soon than, I’m only 5 km away from the town. We need to save the batteries for our walkie talkies. But see you soon Fire.”
“See ya soon, Erin” I told her but she had already turned her walkie talkie off.
I sat down beside the sign that says Ivywood. Trying to finally take a break. But I still needed to be ready if any walkers comes. I don’t wanna be dead meat yet.
It was almost midnight when Erin finally came. I was already inside a small gas station, I had cleared the place from walkers and started a small fireplace, that were under control. It was always cold at night but warm on the day.
“Hey” Erin said.
“Erin, your back”
“Not really, It was you that ran away, it’s more like ‘Fire your back’ instead”
“True, here I found some food and some useful stuff” and I showed her a flashlight, three lighters, two chocolate bars and some bandage. I also showed her a soup I had already warmed up by the fire.
When we finally had finished eating and talking about our plan for the next day, we took out two sleeping and layed those down beside the fire.
“Now we go to sleep, let’s do our town check tomorrow and see if we find anything useful” Erin said.
“Okay” I answered.
'We have been going from town to town for more than 5 months now, Since the virus started. I still remember that day, I will always remember that day. I remember everyone going nuts, I was at school that day, with my friends. I’m not sure if everyone survived but I know so far only me and Erin made it out alive. Right now we are just trying to find any survivors, any group or anything at all. Apparently there is a military not so far away where we are trying to get to. I hope there is people there, but if there is none, there is still useful things there like guns, food for months. Only if no one have already taken everything from the base.'
I was think for a while longer until I finally fell asleep.
