“Wake up, wake up Fire.” I heard a silent voice.
She was almost shaking me to death.
“Fire, wake up.”
“Yes?” I said confused.
“Shhh, someone are outside.”
“You sure it’s not a walker?”
“I’m sure, I heard two males talking” Erin said in a worried voice.
I jumped up and took the gun up that I had in my pocket. While Erin made sure no trace of us were left behind.
“There is no back door, we have to get out the front door.” I said.
Erin nodded.
“Ready?”
“No, wait” she said and took a knife in her hands.
“Now”
We started looking outside but we saw nothing.
“Let’s go” I said.
We opened the door and was ready to go but…..
“Stand still” A male voice said.
“Turn around” Another male voice said.
We turned around and saw two young guys holding their guns at us.
“Drop your weapons”
“We are not your enemy” Erin said while putting the knife down on the ground and I did the same thing.
They started whispering to each other.
I heard a lightly “okay” by one of them.
“Let’s go” He said.
We started walking with guns pointed by the back of our heads. They told us where to go and we listened.
After walking around the small town for around 10 minutes, we saw a camp full of people, around 10 people were there. They had all sorts of equipment.
Everyone looked at us in disgust because we had guns at our heads by one of their “friends”.
“Where's the boss” one of the guys holding their gun at our face asked.
“Over there” a guy in sitting on a wooden box holding a katana, said and pointed on a big green tent.
“Thanks” He said back.
We walked into a tent and saw a girl a bit older than us.
“And who is this?” the woman asked.
“Two girls we found at the other side of town, looks like they just found their way to this town.” One guy said.
“What’s your names?” she asked us.
I hesitated for a while until,
“I’m Erin and this is Fire.” Erin said, seeing how I struggled to say our names.
“Hmmmm, very well, I’m Icy and these two ‘Chip ‘n’ Dale’ are Superpi and Ben.” The ‘boss’ said.
“But I see you have been on the run for a while, ever since the start?”
We nodded.
“Hmmm, I see.” she said and turned around facing a small desk.
“This isn’t our really camp, this is just a temporary place while we are on a ‘RUN’ as we call them, It’s when we are out looking for survivors like you or items, weapons and food.” Icy said.
“Boss, why are you telling them, they are intruders, our enemies.” Superpi said.
“NO.” Icy said and slammed her fist on the small desk.
We all got frighten.
“The living are not our enemies, the dead are. We don’t kill or harm our own.”
“Our own?” Ben asked with a confused expression on his face.
“Yes, the living. So let this young girls free, They get to choose if they wanna continue be on their run or if they will join us, but ladies, you have to follow our rules then.” She said.
We nodded.
“Can me and my friend here talk and come to a conclusion?” I asked.
“Yes sure, I will leave you be, you have until the sunset when we will move back to our real camp.” She said.
She left with the other 2 guys following her lead.
For awhile it was quiet but then we looked at each other and started discussing.
“Should we?” I asked.
“They seem nice, we both know what that can mean.”
“True, should we be spies like when we were kids? When we tried to spy on your sister, and she was like..”
“GO OUT” we both said at the same time.
We laughed for a bit but we slowly stopped laughing when we came back to reality.
“I’m sorry” I said in empathy.
“It’s okay, We left that life behind us, didn’t we?” She said in a sad but calming voice.
“Yeah, Shall we go out?”
“Sure, I’ll follow your lead” Erin said.
