That’s sort of part of the game. The murderer tries to blend in with the other players so no one suspects them, then they’ll spy on you for a bit to see when the best time is to kill you so no one sees, and then you die. Why are you upset that the murderer killed you?

But what exactly is a try-hard according to you? Because to some people there are different types of things that players do that are considered being a “try-hard.” I feel like the word is unnecessary now.
