"We need to find at least something useful for that injury of yours," said the boy. "You can't keep wandering around with that- it'll get infected and will ruin your system."
"I know," replied Bear. "I should've listened to you when you told your plan."
"Doesn't matter. We can't go to the past now."
"Show me your back. I found some AID kit that can help."
"Thanks a lot, Sphynx."
"No problem."
As Sphynx finished treating Bear's back, both took some food to eat. As Bear noticed like always, Sphynx didn't eat anything. He hasn't eaten anything recently. As much as Bear begs him to eat, Sphynx always refuses, saying that he wants to save the food for an emergency or he's not hungry at all. Of course- all of those are lies as the fragile boy will pass out or try to hold the pain or throwing up- silently trying his best for his friend to not notice.
It's kind of obvious for Bear.
When the destruction of the world started, he had hope that it would end up soon but as the days flew by and nothing changed, he lost every single piece of hope that everything would go back to normal.
Then he met Sphynx.
He found him as he saw he was about to get killed by some group of people and use him as a food source. Bear came in a defended him which ended up him getting drastically injured.
But he knew no one deserved to end as someone else's food.
After that, the two started to get along and decided to go on their journey of survival with each other.
The silent whispers of the wind blow the dead leaves away on the empty streets as a sign winter is arriving soon. Both have no idea how would they survive in the next months as they need to find a place where no one can find them and warmth.
Both wish that they can see the dream again, the place that they saw where everything was normal for once. When they saw it for the first time, they immediately wanted to find that place and believed someone was calling them since they both got the same dream. Of course, they don't know if the place is real or it was just a coincidence.
The pair walked into another house and started to search for food.
As the pair started to open the counters, they saw that most of the counters were full.
"This is strange... has anyone gone to this house before?" asked Bear.
"I don't know. Look," pointed Sphynx, "the food is also new."
"That means someone is living here."
"Or they did but ended up dying."
"Let's look around to see what else this place has," said Bear. "I think we should go together in case something happens. This house seems a little bit off."
Sphynx and Bear searched up every room, from the bathrooms in search of medicine, to the bedrooms for clothing, to anywhere around the house to find something for help.
Both ended up going to the basement and placed their bags on the floor.
"I'm tired," said Sphynx. "We should rest here for a few days and then we can continue our journey."
As both started to lay down. the sound of a click echoed the room.
The next thing they know a group of people with weapons is surrounding them.
"Freeze!" yelled a girl.
"Drop everything you have or else we'll shoot!"

The sounds of sirens fade away as the creaking sounds of the counters echoes around the kitchen, who seems that a family once lived in this home as a teenage boy with a small boy search up for food. It's impossible to find food each day, so the pair grabs as much food as possible, even if the food is rotting. The world is a dangerous place now, nothing is safe anymore for Bear. As the counters are now vacant as backpacks filled with food, they go upstairs to find any medicine that will help them along the way."The generous will be blessed, for they share their food with the poor." (Proverbs 22:09)
