Hello guys today I will be briefly explaining on how to at least drive a manual transmission now keep in mind I have never driven a manual so I may get a lot of things wrong so correct me if I’m wrong.

The cockpit: once your inside a car with a manual/standard you’ll notice 3 different things that you’ll regularly see: E-Brake, a long stick shift, and 3 pedals

E-brake: now you’ll mainly see the long lever between the driver seat and the passenger seat and it’s there for a reason which I will explain later on

long stick shift: now when you see the stick shift it’s just means that your gonna have to shift gears with just your hand by moving it up, down, left or right. but they also have the H with numbers and the letter R which means reverse.

3 pedals: I bet some of y’all drive a car where the driver seat is on the left but for those who’s driver seat is on the right I got you covered. Left: when you see these 3 pedals you need to understand which pedal is which so lemme explain. The right pedal is the gas where you just press it down with your feet to move the car. The middle pedal is the brakes you just press it down when your on a stop light or when your parking. The left pedal is the clutch, this is where you press it down and shift the gears manually so when your out on the street and you need to shift from first gear so second you press on the clutch and move the stick to second gear. Right: for the right it can be a little different because the driver seat is on the right side so the pedals might be in different position so the right pedal is the clutch, middle is breaks and the left is gas.

before starting the car: before starting your car make sure your E-Brake is activated by just holding on the button on the lever and pull it up. Next shift the gear to neutral. But Angel where’s the N? Well good question Neutral is at the center of the transmission from this picture that has the N in it. So you might be wondering why do I need to put on the E-brake before I start my car? Well let’s say your car is parked on a hill and in manual cars there is no parking gear so you gotta put your E brake on before putting it into neutral otherwise it would move by itself and probably crashing your car and when you turn on your car with no E brake it would jump the car forward which is why most cars have E brakes on manuals.

when your start your car: now that your on neutral and the E-brake is on just turn on the ignition and bam your car is coming to life and to move the car just press on the clutch and shift into 1st gear or in reverse.

driving your car: now nearly every manual car has a RPM showing you when it shift your car into 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th or even 6th gear but in cars like an old VW beetle there is no RPM speedometer just the mph so my advice for you is to pay attention to the sound of the engine because that’s also the RPM once you think it’s appropriate to shift your gears just press down on the clutch and move the stick.

parking: so you managed to go to your destination like target, Walmart or anywhere just simply find a good parking space to park your car. Activate your E brake, shift your car into neutral and turn of the car.
