The story of the pigeon and his turtle. Their original ending wasn’t quite sweet, but can these two creatures find a way to make their own ending?
Elayssa tosses her frail petite body around in her queen sized bed engorged with a beautiful floral design encasing her fragile body as she moves around in discomfort.
“It’s not if the reason is good or bad that matters.” Says the pigeon. “It’s why we decide to do it in the first place.” He claims.
The turtle questions “But I want to know...why do there have to be reasons?”
“I think I have the answer.” Says the pigeon.
“Tell me? Tell me what is it?” The sea turtle begins demanding.
“I think it’s because of our emotions.”
As the warm breeze from the tides wrap around them, the sea turtle turns from the ocean and looks at her friend.
“Will I ever see you again, Pigeon?” The sea turtle says with disappointment.
“Yes, one day.” He says.
“And what if I don’t? Shall I lie and say I will?”
“No, never lie. Because the truth is, in a million universes, I’ll always find my way back to you.”
The alarm clock next to Elayssa’s bed begins ringing nonstop waking her up completely. She turns the alarm off.
“I wonder what today will be like. Probably the same as yesterday. I’ll go into work, bring my boss his favorite coffee, which is black coffee if you were wondering and then I’ll schedule appointments and make phone calls.” Elayssa says to herself in the mirror while doing her hair.
She puts her long blonde hair in a high ponytail leaving just two strands to hang down from each corner of her forehead. She finishes doing her hair and proceeds to put on her professional clothing in which being a mysterious black skirt with a white blouse.
“I wonder what heels I should wear today.” Elayssa giggles with sarcasm as she proceeds to say “Oh well, it doesn’t matter which pair I choose because I’ll still be walking funny.”
She grabs a pair of flashy black heels and puts her small gentle foot in it. While on her way to work she stops by the local coffee shop and gets the usual black coffee with no sugar.
“Have a great day Elayssa. Don’t stare at the handsome devilish boss of yours.” The person at the counter says.
Elayssa rolls her eyes with utter arrogance. She knew how gorgeous her boss is, but his attitude and bossy behavior made him look ugly.
Elayssa opens the door to her bosses office. Winston, her boss is reading a book she can’t quite see what the title is.
“Do you have my coffee Elayssa?” Winston says while his eyes are still peeking down reading line after line on the book he’s reading.
“Yes boss, you know I know forget.” She let’s put a fake chuckle but Winston can see right through it.
“You can just call me Winston from now on.” He looks up and smiles at Elayssa while closing his book and shoving it in his bag. Elayssa walks over to his desk and gently places his morning coffee next to his keyboard.”
“What will you do when I reach the ocean?” The turtle asks the pigeon as she lays in the scorching sand.
“I’ll wait... I’ll wait for you to swim your way back to the sand.” The pigeon says.
The day went by quickly and as Elayssa was packing up she took out her favorite book from her bag called The Story Of The Sea Turtle by Kyra Bozzeli. She found someone online 1 year ago in whom she would sends quotes from the story back and forth with.
“This book will always be one of my favorites.” She smiles and starts walking out of the building, but she bumps into someone.
“I’m sorry Elayssa, let me pick that up for you.” To her surprise it was Winston. “Why is he acting so nice all of a sudden?” She asks herself.
Winston grabs the book and before handing it to Elayssa he reads the title. His face starts to get pale as his hands shake a little.
“My book please?” Elayssa says with an attitude.
“Elayssa... are you my sea turtle?” Winston asks nervously as he swallows a lump in his throat. She starts shaking as well as soon as she catches on to what he meant.
“No...it can’t be you...no.” Tears start forming in her eyes while they make their way down her soft cheek and splatter on the cold tile floor.
The turtle starts making her way towards the salty ocean as the waves crash against the sand. “I’m almost there Pigeon.” The sea turtle says with a joyous look.
“That’s great...phenomenal.” The pigeon says as he watches his friend find her way back to the ocean.
The turtle reaches the ocean. “I’ll come back. I promise.” The sea turtle says to the pigeon as she starts swimming away.
“I know you will.” The pigeon says happily.
Time went by and the Pigeon came back to the sandy shores everyday waiting for his sea turtle to return...but she never did.
“After all this time, the person on the book forums I talked to...was you? The person who helped me when I need a friend the most...was you? The person who worked with me to create a different ending...was...you?” Elayssa starts wiping her tears as she realizes Winston isn’t the bad guy she framed him out to be.
“I’m so sorry, Elayssa.” He pulls her closer to his strong muscular chest.
“Want to go out for dinner with me tomorrow?” He asks Elayssa.
“What...why would I-“ She gets cut off by Winston.
“I want to get to know you, the real you. So what do you say Elayssa. Will you give this pigeon a chance?”
She smirks as she says softly. “Yes. Let’s finish the ending that we started.”
