It had been at least an hour, and the group was still exploring the mansion. They knew that they could never see all of it, but they wanted to see as much as possible. Although the place was covered in vines and cobwebs and probably very venomous spiders, they continued.
They mostly split up into groups of two, with one group of three. Recoloured, Venus, and Gracious were in a group of three, because Gracious was still having trouble walking.
Rose went with Griz, Addy went with Summer, Capitaine went with Cookie, and Ben went with Sphynx.
"Hey Griz, let's go explore upstairs," Rose climbed up the stairs and ushered him to do the same. They headed to the second floor.
"Summer, let's go to the third floor, I guess," Addy said.
"C'mon, Cap! To the fourth floor we go!" Cookie grabbed his arm and ran up the stairs.
"Ah!" Capitaine yelped.
"Me, Venus and Gracious will stay on the first floor, you and Sphynx can go to the second floor with Rose and Griz," recoloured directed.
Everybody went to their floor and began exploring.
Meanwhile, Rose and Griz weren't having much luck. Griz was looking for something cool, like gold or something, while Rose was busy trying not to sneeze from all the dust.
Griz looked in room after room, but found nothing but beds, desks, lamps, and occasionally a balcony.
He did notice one thing, though. Each room was different, but each had several tiny lion statues in them.
Griz picked up one of the statues and examined it.
On the belly of the Lion, it read:
Experiment 137
"What a strange thing to put on a lion," Griz mumbled. He put down the lion, and then suddenly heard a shriek.
"Rose!" Griz ran out of the room and tried to hear where the shriek was coming from.
The left, he thought, then entered several rooms, looking for Rose.
He found her in a room, lying on the floor. Her hands were bloody and her breathing was quick and rapid. She was lying next to a desk that was practically covered in blood. The mirror had scratch marks on it, accompanied with blood.
He ran to her and knelt beside her. He checked her pulse.
Oh, thank God she's still alive, he thought to himself.
Her eyes fluttered open. Her breath became slower, until it was at a normal pace. She began to tremble and sob.
"Hey, what's wrong? Who hurt you?" He asked her.
"Well obviously what's wrong is that i was attacked," she choked.
"I-"
"And it's not 'who' attacked me, it's 'what,'" she finished.
Rose's eyelids began to feel heavy. The world started spinning, and she felt woozy.
"Hey, Rose, stay with me," Griz urged.
"I think I'm going into shock. J-just keep me s-safe while I s-sleep, okay?" Her eyes shut, and she began to sleep.
Griz picked her up and laid her on the bed. He then pushed the desk in front of the door, hoping to stop anyone from entering.
His breaths were shaky, and his hands began to tremble. His throat started hurting, and his eyes stung.
"Griz, get yourself together," he told himself. He breathed in deeply, and then out. He did this several times until he was calm.
It didn't last long. Suddenly he heard horrifying growls, along with nails scraping against the door. It pounded on the door and let out a ear-piercing shriek. Griz covered his ears in pain, and groaned at the sound.
The shrieking stopped, and suddenly everything became quiet. Eerily quiet. The only thing that Griz could hear was his own trembling breath.

Addy and Summer decided to stick together when searching, as they figured it would be safer.
"Hey Summer, look," Addy pointed to a door at the end of the hallway. Instead of the door being a dark brown in color, it was made of metal.
They headed towards it. Surprisingly, it wasn't locked.
Summer opened the door with hesitation. What was inside took his breath away.
He had opened the door, and found a huge lab. Atleast, that's what he figured it was. There were large rusted cages everywhere and levers and buttons on the cage. It looked like some sort of testing chamber.
There were lots of desks with what looked like lab experiments on them. Summer could tell that several of the experiments had failed, because there were a few holes in the desks.
This all seems very advanced compared to the time that this thing was built, Summer thought.
“Woah, this place is awesome,” Addy commented.
“Yeah, but it all seems so strange. This type of experiments and lab work shouldn’t have been available back then. It all seems so...advanced,” Summer questioned.
“Maybe really smart science people were here and we didn’t know about them so they weren’t written down in history,” Addy replied.
“Maybe,” Summer replied, but he didn’t believe that.
“But I feel like these people weren’t written down in history because nobody knew about them, I feel like it was because nobody liked them,” Summer walked over to a desk and found an old journal. He flipped through the pages and read one.
“Experiment 98:
Subject did not survive, turned into a hideous figure, then dissolved into a liquid type substance.
Result: FAIL.” Summer read.
“It seems like they were experimenting on something. But what? And why?” Addy asked herself.
Summer flipped through more pages of the book, and found a drawing.
“Oh my goodness, that thing looks horrible,” Addy pointed at the drawing.
The drawing had a lion-like animal with talons like a bird, and had no tail. Horns stuck out from the top of it’s head.
“Hey, Summer, do you think that this is what they were planning on making with their experiments?” Addy hesitated.
Summer thought for a moment, “I don’t know, but I do know that if those things were released on the world, we could kiss the human species goodbye.”
