/Chapter 25/
October 25, 1920
“At least our Ark was still in some good pieces,” I said in shruggers. I watched as the rest of the team helped Mos pull out the Ark from the snowy rock that it recently crashed on. I watched them as I pulled out a crossword flipbook and started to search for some words as I waited to see what was new.
“Heave ho! Heave Ho! Heave ho!” I heard those words for about a straight hour until my ears started to bleed from hearing them yell. I decided to go somewhere quiet to work on my crossword puzzle as I did nothing for the past hours.
The problem was, there wasn’t really anywhere quiet to work in besides the bathroom stalls but if you were in my point of view, you won't want to in there in your entire life. So since that was a big no-no, I decided to go back to my ice cube I was sitting on before FireFox got pushed towards the frozen water and went back into doing my thing.
A few hours later past and I can still hear Mos and the other people trying to get the Ark out of the snowy rock even though I was half of the miles away from them. I decided that doing this crossword puzzle wasn’t really worth it. So I went towards Mos to help them. Besides, there wasn’t really anything else to do in this deadly weather that was going on.
“Anyone need a lift!” I said as I held a pickaxe on my hand. Mos looked concerned and confused on what I was doing right now. “Umm Icy…” He said as he pointed to the pickaxe I was holding. “Um yes?” I smirked at him. “That’s nowhere near the time we need to get to Ark out of the rock.” Mos started to laugh as the rest of the people started to laugh at me as they pointed fingers towards me.
My face was burning up; wanted to cry in sadness but I hold my tears inside but my heart was heartbroken to see people laughing at me. It's like high school all over again. I dropped the pickaxe towards the ground and headed crying towards my place I was in. “Oh, my,” Mos said as he saw me crying off. Everyone stopped laughing.
“I better go and see if she’s okay.” So Mos headed towards me as I ran away from him. It took me a few minutes to get back to my place but once I did, I sat there and put my hands towards my eyes and started to cry some more.
Meanwhile
After we all stopped laughing at icy while Mos went and raced towards her to apologize, the rest of us headed towards some rocks ahead and sat there until Mos came back to order us what to do next.
My hands were freezing cold since I wasn’t wearing any mittens since I didn’t have any. I looked towards the Antenna tower and back to the Ark that we were currently trying to pull out. At this point in time, I felt like giving up and heading somewhere else. Besides, nobody will notice me gone if they ever notice that is.
Even if they did, they’ll probably think that I was killed by the Halloween killer. So that gave me a higher chance to go on my own. I spotted Jay drinking some hot coffee up ahead and wonder where in the world did he get that.
I looked ahead into the windy mist of the snow storm. I decided that it wasn’t safe and I wouldn't stand a chance out there by myself. So I decided to stay with the rest of the people and headed towards Jay to ask where did he get the coffee. “Hey, Jay!” I waved at him as he scarfed his mouth.
Jay was covered in wool cloths from top to bottom I swear. “Hey, Joe!” He said to me as he handed a cup of coffee towards me. “Wozza! This is hot as heck!” I told him as I sipped a little bit of it.
“Omg, that’s so good! Where do you get it?” “Oh, I packed a retainer of coffee before the haunted place we lived in blew up. The coffee retainer can keep anything warm for 300 hours! I was surprised as I kept on sipping my coffee with him.
“So, anything new going on?” He glanced at me as he said so. “Nothing much really. The snow really is picking up around here!” I told him; trying to start a conversation. Unfortunately, it didn’t work. “Hmm, well I gotta give out coffee towards the other! Nice chatting with you!” I shocked his hand as I left him to do his work.
I was heading back to my place as I spotted Limber rushing towards me with pizza. “Joe! I got pizza!” He said to me as he ate a piece of pizza right in front of me. Now I had one question inside my head, How in the world did he get pizza in the middle of nowhere?
I told him, ‘Where did you get that slice of pizza?” He told me he got it over there down by the Antartica station. My ears blew out of my head. “LIMBER!” I yelled at him with furious. “You KNEW how to get over there ALL THIS TIME?” I was practically yelling so much that I felt like I was going to lose my voice.
“Um ya why?” He said as he took another bite of his pizza. “Go away Limber!” I said to him with madness. He sobbed at me as he left me alone. “He knew all this time?” I told myself. “I gotta tell the others about this.”
Meanwhile
I was still upset about the fact that I tried to be nice but instead, I get made fun of. Just goes to show how terrible this world is. I heard a knock on the ice popsicles that were near me. “Can I talk to you for a second?” I heard a voice that sounded familiar to me. “Come in,” I said in a moody voice.
Apparently, it was Mos that came to see me. I wasn't really that surprised for him to be next to me. He sat down next me on the snowy floor as he started to talk to what he’d to say. “Look Icy, I know what happened over there when you tried to help us.” My head was on the left, not looking at him.
“There is no excuse for me to say that I didn’t laugh because there are no excuses.” I turned my head around a little as I started to hear what he had to say. “I just want you to forget what I happened and we can move on. Please?”
I thought that this was the lamest apology that anyone can ever say but I’d no choice to be mad at him anymore. So we both shook hands on it and headed towards the rest of the group to help them get the Ark out of the snowy rock.
As I was heading towards the Ark to get it pulled off, I spotted Joe coming rushing towards me. “What happened?” I said to her as she started to talk. She huffed and puffed until she started to talk. “LIMBER… Found a way towards the tower without getting across the lake!
Mos and I were surprised to hear this coming from Limber. Now I always thought that Limber was a good guy and all this but I never knew he would keep secrets from us. Something about this didn’t feel right. “Are you sure it was Limber and not someone else?” Mos asked.
“Positive! It was Limber!” She said to us. I quickly jumped in as I said, “And how exactly do you know this?” I questioned her. “Well, it all started like this. I was sitting down on an ice cube, minding my own business when I heard Limber coming rushing towards me.
I got up to see if anything happened to him. I said to him, ‘What happened Lumber?’ He said nothing much as he started to eat a slice of pizza in front of me. I asked him, ‘where did you get that pizza from?’ He told me that he got the pizza from the tower that we were recently having trouble crossing towards.”
She finished as she tried to catch her breath with all the talking she just did. My ears couldn’t believe this. I looked at Mos to see the same reaction as I had on my face. “I can’t believe it. I mean ya sure if it was someone else that I know that always gets in trouble and misleads people ya but Limber? What?”
I was honestly shocked when I heard her “So, do you guys believe me now?” She looked at us like we were judging her in a game show. “Not yet!” Mos spoke out before I could’ve said anything. “I need to see if Limber actually did that.” Joe left us as she rolled her eyes toward Mos.
Mos did the same as we both got up from where we were sitting. As I followed Joe, Joe stopped in the distance, not knowing where to go. I went up to Joe as I waved my hand and said, “Hello? Joe?”
I didn’t know what happened until I looked towards her direction to see what happened. Apparently, somehow, Jay was frozen in an Ice Cube. All three of us rushed towards it to get a closer look at it. Mos knocked on the ice as he said, “Yup. He’s a goner.” He said in a sigh.
“I can’t believe this. My child has been frozen?” As I was about to cry, Joe held a note that was left on the ice cube as she read, “Hello! While you guys were gone, I decided to take Jay for a little swim out in the lake! And by the looks of it, it seems like he was ‘cool’ about it haha. Just remember, Halloween is coming up!- The Halloween killer.”
Joe ripped the paper in half as she said, “We. Don’t Have. Enough. Time. Left.”
