"I'm stuffed!" He explained while he sat on the living room couch. "Okie children, story time!" ??? Said. "Oooh, what's this story called ???" She asked looking confused. "This story takes place a long time ago around October when I was a young lad back then. It all started when..."
/Chapter 1/
October 1, 1920
The clouds were stormy like the model days that were surrounding our deaths into the sky. I headed towards the town bar, not noticing to expect from my awful moves. I headed inside the bar, I saw a woman about the age of a 21 old woman passed out on the other side of the bar. I tried my best to ignore the situation that was going on and headed towards the bathroom. The bathroom was about the size height of a school homeroom and the bathroom wide was about as long as an office hallway. I notice someone feet next to my stool so as expected, someone else was there. I got my phone out the blue jeans that I recently just bought a few days ago and played angry birds on my phone but with the volume off.
I guess I could say I was there for about 20 minutes when I notice the person next to my stall was still there. I haven’t realized what time it was when I checked my phone and to my surprise, it was 7 PM on the clock. My eyes wide as my brain wonder how long I could’ve been there without realizing the time. I flushed the toilet behind me and headed towards the sink to wash up. I gotta admit, the soup smelled like you were jumping happily, surrounded by flowers of every kind. I was shocked to see a bathroom with decent soup inside a dry up, dirty bar.
I headed out the bathroom door that was all covered up in stuff that you don’t want to know when something caught my eye. The person that sat next towards my stall was gone. Now I couldn’t tell if he got out without washing his hands cause if he did, I was current enough I would’ve heard the sink running but I don’t remember hearing it run. After I got out of the rusted bar, I headed to the town hall and see if anything was up.
On the way there, I couldn't stop thinking about that person inside that bathroom. Was he a ghost? Was he some kind of FBI agent? Many thoughts flew inside my head as I headed towards the Town Hall of the city. The moon shined brighter than the golden star itself. Crows flew beyond my eyes as they passed me. “The month of October has come,” I said to myself.
I opened the front door slowly as I spotted some of my friends on the other side of the lobby. I closed the wooden door slowly so nobody will see me. Lucky for me, there were some few cheesy pizza slices left for me on the dessert table. I grabbed myself a blue plastic plate, grabbed myself a slice of cheese pizza, a fruit punch and headed towards my friends. My friends were wearing some kind of school uniform but funny thing was, it wasn't school uniform but that’s what I saw on them.
“Hey, guys!” I expressed myself as I took a bit from my pizza. “Hey, Icy! So glad you could come on such short notice! After all, it’s the first day of October so might as well enjoy the party!” Joe explained. “Well, so glad I could make it, I guess,” I said it in a voice that indicated that I didn’t want to be there but also trying not to sound like a party pooper.
“Great party hu?” Wolfie yelled at me. I could hardly hear her voice from the loud DJ that was playing. “I guess so!” I yelled back as I put my hands in a circle shape toward my mouth to sound a bit louder. “Mind if I ask, but who’s running the music?” I yelled back as I tried to explain to her. “Ben is!” Wolfie yelled back. I could barely hear those words but luckily I did. I yelled thanks to Wolfie as I headed towards the front stage and gave Ben the piece of my mind. “BEN!” I yelled towards him but no answer. This reminded when I always put on my rock music and mom will always try to call my name but couldn't feel so now I know how mom feels.
I yelled so much that I thought I was going to pass out and not only that, Ben decided to put the volume of the music higher than it was. It was like Ben knew that I was there but didn’t want to answer. I got sick of yelling so I did what I should've done in the first place, tap him. Ben somehow switched something that made the room dead silent. Ben looked around as they finally saw me behind him. As Ben was about to talk, someone across the room yelled at him as he owned the place. “Hey DJ person!” The person yelled directly at him. The man I saw was steva and by the look on his face, he wasn’t the guy you wanted to mess around with.
“I came here for a party! Not a so-called ‘time to turn off the music and talk’ thing!” He screeched across the room. “Icy! What do you want?” Ben insisted. “Whatever you have to say say it! People out there ain’t happy!’ He explained. It was really hard to look straight towards his face since he already looked mad enough. “I erm… Wanted you to turn the music down but instead, you turned it off completely.” I said it to him while looking down at my green shoes with shame on my face. The room was silent until Ben tapped me on the shoulder and gave me a note that said something on the back. Before I could’ve read the note, Ben put his ear-phones back on and started the music back on.
I went towards the near end of the room and read the back of the note. It had cake stains on it but I couldn't really blame him since he was probably on a rush writing that note. I opened the note and read it to myself. It read, “Listen Icy, I know you’re my friend and everything but this is a party and a party on the first day of October is big. Especially when I got a role being a DJ. So I don’t mean this in any rude way but if you don’t enjoy the loud music then I recommend you to leave the Halloween party. -Ben.”
After I read that note, my whole stomach felt spinny. Bright lights shine from every direction. I didn’t feel like being there anymore so what I did best and left the party. My whole smile disappeared as I looked back at the Town Hall and saw lights shining out from the windows. I walked along the stone road when I note Neko walking towards the Hall. He passed by waving at me like telling me a hello. I waved back at her as she headed towards the town hall and I headed out of town. But then, something caught my eyes. I saw a black shadow on top of a stone wall that looked like a church.
I got down from my sight and hid behind a dried up bush. As I saw him making his move, I heard crows flying from every direction as the moon was bright as a shooting star. I also saw a pumpkin near a house so I knew, October has started. I was shocked and I felt like my heart stopped for a second. The shadow pulled out some kind of Halloween sword that had a pumpkin shaped sword and was heading straight towards the Town Hall. My eyes wind as I saw the shadow heading closer to the Town Hall. I grabbed the note with cake stain and ran as fast as my feet could run.
I don’t know how long I took to get there but when I did, I couldn’t believe what I saw. I opened the door slowly as I saw the party lights off and the DJ was off. They even put on the lights to see what happened. Everyone was on stage surrounding something. I heard crying as I rushed up the stairs so I already knew this wasn’t a good sign. Once I saw why everyone was surrounding whatever was here, I couldn’t believe my eyes. My heart felt like it stopped as my brain did also. It was Ben… He was dead. I didn’t know how to express myself as I saw him there. I looked around as tears came down from my eyes. The Halloween decoration in the room didn’t make me feel any happy. Elk ran towards me as I hugged her from this nightmare. I got down on my legs as I notice a paper next to his head. Everyone gasped as I picked up the note.
Everyone started to talk towards others as I started to read the note out loud. “Everyone quiet!” Cord yelled at them. Icy read out loud, “If you’re reading this, you probably know what happened to your little friend. But this oh-oh-oh, it’s just the beginning. I’ll take you all down one by one every night until Halloween comes around but until then, you made an awful mistake. From, The Halloween Master.”
I put down the note as I tried to figure out what it meant. “What does he/she mean ‘You made an awful mistake?’” Neko asked. “I don’t know,” I said to her as I put my hands on my chin. Bark came out of nowhere and yelled, “If the killer knew what was happening then that means… IT'S ONE OF US!” He yelled. Everyone gasped in the room. “But who will be that cold to murder someone?” Rycelle remarked. “I don’t know but what I do know is nobody is leaving until we find out who’s this Halloween Master or more like the Halloween killer.” Bark explained.
And the Halloween night went like that. They cleaned up the bloody mess up and lined everyone up as Bark asked everyone questions one by one.
The first day of October wasn’t looking so good as it seemed.
