Im a little apprehensive about posting this one, since it’s probably not very good. I was inspired by a show and my own eyes and decided to write this. So I apologize if it sucks xD

Every morning I would look in the mirror and study my reflection. It had become a sort of habit of mine. My vision always lingered on my eyes. They were a stunning blue, almost like a lake on a clear day. I had fallen in love with that color, and so did someone else. This someone else, he was my significant other. We’ve been together for a few months now, and he would always talk about my eyes.
Today he had sent me a strange text, saying he wanted to meet up and talk to me about something. It has been a while since I’ve seen him, so I wonder if something had happened. I shrugged off that thought and got ready to go out. He sent me another message, an address to a nearby café. Grabbing my things and locking my door, I began to walk to the meeting place.
The walk didn’t take long at all, I made it to the café within five minutes. When I walked in, I saw him off in one of the corners, smiling at his phone. Something in my gut felt off, but that was soon replaced by my happiness. I walked over and slide into the seat across from him. He mumbled a greeting to me, I just barely managed to hear it. Before I could greet him back, he quickly said “We need to break up.”
I sat there stunned. Why would he say this so suddenly? “Wait, why? Why so sudden?” I asked.
He sighed and looked at me before saying something I didn’t want to hear. “This should’ve have gone on so long” he began. “I only did this with you to get some quick cash from some friends. I thought it would be easy. Ask you out and date you for a week or two, and then break up with you and get paid. You just didn’t see the hints, you were so oblivious to it all. This is why it has to end now.”
I didn’t know what to say, this was such a shock to me. I stood up quickly, mumbled a fast goodbye, and ran outside. Unfortunately for me, it was raining now. I mentally cursed Mother Nature before I began to run back home with tears running down my cheeks.
Once I got inside, I slumped against the door and covered my eyes. What just happened minutes ago kept repeating through my head, causing me to curl up smaller. I couldn’t stop the tears that streamed down my face.
After a couple minutes curled up against the door, I forced myself to get up. I walked into the bathroom and looked into the mirror out of habit. What I saw in the mirror made me regret the choice. My hair was wet, sticking to my face. Tear streaks were starting to dry on my cheeks, but the worst of all was my eyes. My once stunning blue eyes were now dull. They didn’t even look blue anymore, they were a light grey. As I stared at my eyes in the mirror, I mumbled to myself, “He was the one who stole my light.”
