2 questions I think about too much

Question 1: how come people say it’s ok to have your own opinion, but when you have your own opinion people judge you for it?

Question 2: how come people respect gay people, but when you are called gay it’s instantly an insult?

I know these questions don’t associate with me but I JUST CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT THEM

1. Yes its ok to have your own opinion but that opinion will define you because you said it.
2. Because they arent gay and they are getting called gay. Its like calling someone a pig but pigs arent bad

1. Having your opinion isn't a bad thing. There will be people who judge you based on your opinions on a certain situation, but that's how humans are. Like for example, if I say I despise the president, there will be some people who agree with me and others who will judge me for just speaking my mind. That's society.
2. People respect others who are brave enough to come out as gay. I respect those people, but there are people who used the term "gay" to insult others. Some people are just afraid of what other people would think if they came out. Like I said society is always judging others. It's like an endless cycle. There's no way to end it.
And those people that think being called gay is an insult, because one, they're not gay themselves and two, they don't believe that human beings can love whoever they want to regardless of race, religion, gender, and culture.

you basically said what I wanted to say

although the way in which some people use the word 'gay' makes it seem like they use it as an insult - not necessarily with the intention to offend gay people. It's just, idk, turned into a sort of insult for some reason.

The second question is more complicated.
Maybe the people who use "u gay" as an insult have said that too many time that they don't know it can hurts people anymore? Maybe they do not know what being gay really is?
Perhaps, if you explain them being gay/lesbian is not a choice, if some famous people starts to fight for LGBTQ+ rights,... Maybe the minds will change? Maybe "u gay" won't be used as an insult anymore? Maybe some people will stop to think that "being gay is a mental deviance"?

yeah, it's a shame, really.

there will always be people like that, though, so, there's nothing much you can do about it, apart from trying to reduce the weight of the problem, if that makes sense? idk how to word it

Well the word "gay" is a insulting use of word to other people, in schools and elsewhere, hurts them. In fact, it seeps into the subconscious. It fuels people's perception of gay people as wrong or bad.

yeah.

the 'insult' was most likely derived from how people perceived being gay before (like, a stronger general feeling that gay = wrong.) I can't words today, but, yeah, I totally agree with that.

i call people gay sometimes.
it's with no intention to hurt or offend anyone who's gay because i support them.
i most often do it when someone outright acts gay in front of me. (i.e. flirting with the same gender, acting as if they have a crush on the same gender, etc)
because i don't really know what else to call them. i could shut my mouth but then someone else will say it. that's just my friend group. oddly obsessed with gay people

xD We have a bigger friend group (Not to big) and there’s like 2 groups with that group and more groups with those, and like 75% of the people in our big group or LGBTQ+. I’m a Lesbian but I haven’t came out yet so I just kinda sit and listen while there all talking about their sexualities and I’m kinda like “Mmhm....” And one of my really go friends always runs up to everyone during passing period and goes

Good Friend: BOB!

Bob:Wat

Good Friend:Are you Gay?

Bob: Idk maybe xD

Why am I still typing crap you guys probably don’t wanna know about my personal lyfe xD
